grid cell resizing while editing

Here I am editing the text in a grid cell.

As I add lines to the grid cell, the text in the items below is covered up by the edit box:

I would like it better if the grid cell dynamically resized while the text in the cell is being added to, and the items below were "pushed down" in the display, remaining visible, and not covered up.  Sometimes when editing text in a cell it is useful to be able to see the text in the cells below.

Another problem arises when editing text in the cell at the bottom of t

Map View Enhancements

I think there are times when many of us "think" in outline view, but other times when we "think" in map view, hence the reason so many programs exist for both purposes.  It would be really nice if when in Map View we could right click on any item, and select either "add child" or "add sibling", allowing us to create our map or process diagram visually.

Ultimate power users product

Hi Thorsten,

Great post!  We are in identical situations!  I've tried ManagePro.  I also first used IQ in 2009 - 2010.  I liked it a lot but gave up on it.  The power was unbelievable but I found it too cumbersome to navigate and manage.

Then I decided to give it a new try in 2015.  This time around I was a little wiser about developing a strategy of how to structure it, and also found IQ had gone through enormous improvements.  Now I lo

Auto-update problem - column cell not automatically updating

Submitted by jimspoon on 2016/03/11 10:56
I added the ItemModified field  to a grid as a column.  However, when I create or edit an item, the ItemModified cell for that item does not fill in.  I have to press F5 to make that happen.  I do have Tools > Manage Grids > Options > Grid auto-updates checked.  Shouldn't this cell be filling in automatically?

Layout Memory Issues re: HTML Pane

Submitted by David_H on 2016/03/11 09:06
Pierre, upon your mention in the other thread of being able to use a second HTML pane fixed to an item to launch grids, I excitedly set it up.  I've discovered two issues:

1. If I open and dock (2) HTML panes, the next time I open IQ only (1) is open.

2. If I lock (1) of the HTML panes to an item, the next time I open IQ it is no longer locked to the item.

Since I have IQ set to restore the layout when opened (tools > options > restore layout when opening files), I'd think these two things should be remembered.

Thanks,

David

Orphan items

Submitted by thorsten on 2016/03/10 05:11
Hi Pierre,

after using IQ for a couple of days, I hate to say I am experimenting some sort of bug.

Sometimes, when I mark an item or multiple items and accidentally move them with the mouse to a different position, they just disappear. I can only find them again by entering the names of the items in the search field. There they show up without any grid shown in.

This has happened at least 2 times now, so I am sure it is a bug.

The first item of those items that disappeared referred endlessly to itself: The parent of the item was the item itself and so on. Maybe this helps.

By the way: How can I see all items which are shown in no grid? Is there a filter which I can set to see all orphan items without grid?

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards
Thorsten

Back again and first impressions

Hi Pierre,

after having experimented for 5 or 6 years with some other information managers, I have finally decided to give your product another try. Although I was surprised that the version number has not reached 1.0 yet, I would like to congratulate you for your excellent product. The only product I found to be on a comparable level and which nearly convinced me was ManagePro. Maybe, in case you do not know it yet, you might take a look at it and get some inspiration. Most features are already implemented in Infoqube and I think it has a similar approach. However, some features are implemented differently and might be a good idea for InfoQube.

After my absence of a few years from InfoQube, I still remember the concepts and the learning curve is not as steep as it was in the first place. But a fresh look sometimes helps and those are my suggestions after a couple of days living again in the InfoQube:

good companion app for Infoqube?

Not sure what's on the roadmap as far as syncing is concerned, so i am wondering what might be a good web app / Android app to use as temporary holding place before transferring items to Infoqube.

I have used Google Tasks but it really it woefully deficient in many respects.  I transferred my Google Tasks items to Workflowy to give that a try, but I've hit the 500 item per month limit for the free version.

Anybody found an app they like for this purpose?

Equations, Rules, and Inheritance

InfoQube supports equations for computing the values of fields. Equations can pull values from other fields on the same item, or from parents and children (column inheritance and equations).

Can't make auto-assign work

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/03/08 12:30

hi,

I am trying to work out how to use equations, auto-assignment etc in IQ. To that end I have read 4.042 Equations, Rules, and Scripting (node 128) and have been trying out some of its examples. Row equations seem pretty straightforward and I can get them to work – just like Excel. However I cannot get this assignment example to work: when you type “Breakfast” into the Item field, another field called Food is ticked.  I copied and pasted from the example and as far as I can see followed the instructions, but when I type “Breakfast” into Item, Food stays resolutely unticked.
