[SOLVED] Print to HTML query

Submitted by Tom on 2017/02/20 13:56
This looks like a mini bug to me, but may be user error.
my query is -- can anyone tell me how I reproduce the HTML content ('Forwarded message' etc.) as per shot #1 again?

EDIT//
The most basic solution of them all: close/reopen the file, now works with exactly the same settings.
It is possible that closing/re-opening the grid would have sufficed, I dont know
//EDIT

I'm printing grid to HTML, which I havent done in a while, so using 'Save and preview'.
After shot #1 below, I removed a column from the grid and exported again -- as you can see from the difference between the two shots, the HTML content moved from the full width to just the width of the last column.

IQ for Novices

I am writing this post in regard to some criticism regarding asking a question to which the “answer is already in the documentation” (which, BTW, is not correct). See here: [node:3828#comment-18201]

I have used Ecco since 1993 and I was one of the first to start using Ecco Extension (EE) and write scripts. I consider myself very comfortable and knowledgeable about Ecco and EE. When I heard about IQ in 2008 (I think; or rather SQL Notes as it was called then) I jumped on as one of the first beta testers and was heavily involved with the program development, which btw was much simpler to grasp at that time. However, I realized that it didn’t yet have all the features that I needed so I went back to using Ecco.

Importing

Import is the process of taking external data (typically content from other apps, files) and inserting it in the current IQBase.

InfoQube can link but cannot import or embed:
  • Files
  • Folders
InfoQube does not intend to replace the file system but works with it.
The file system is optimized to work with... files and folders and it is the best tool for that.

Address Book Sorting and Filtering

Sorry for trivial questions;
I created a new database with sample date. I guess that it used a layout that I had used with another database.
See the video link in reference to my questions below:

1. Sorting 5. Sorting and Grouping Items) I see that the items are not sorted by Item [text] but by "lastcallnbdays descr" (whatever that is). When I look at the sort "button" it says "sort items". Why aren't they sorted? There is also something called 'Source Items Sort". What is that (it is not covered in the help file)?

Ctrl + Number item expansion poll

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2017/02/15 15:53
Hi IQ users !

Question for you...

I considering switching the Expand All items and Expand Selected items shortcuts, so :
  • Ctrl + 1-9  would expand selected items
  • Shift + Ctrl + 1-9 would expand all items

The main reason is uniformity with other views (MapView, Surface). Also I find that, I more often want to expand one branch, not all...

To expand all items, simply do
  • Ctrl + A and then Ctrl + 1-9 or,
  • Shift + Ctrl + 1-9

Any Comments ?

Creating items under a parent simultaneously shown in several grids is extremely slow

Submitted by Armando on 2017/02/13 16:28
Creating items under a parent simultaneously shown in several grids is unbearably slow (between 30 and 45s)

Steps (ideally, this would be done with my DB as a DB of a few MB doesn't really do anything significant, but still, it gives an idea):
- sample DB
- open welcome grid
- reattach 3 grids to the work space : MusicLibrary, Appointments, To-Do's
- copy-paste those grids in the welcome grid
- Mark the infoQube item in the welcome grid and add it as a children of an item (anyone) in all 3 other grids (MusicLibrary, Appointments, To-Do's) : use "add marked item as children"
- Expand the hierarchies in each grid, and use word wrap for good measure.
- Now, if you add items in the Welcome grid, under the "infoQube" item, you should notice a little delay (on my computer at least) and you should see the items appearing in all grids simulteneously (even if grid auto updat

Outline Labels

Outline Styles and Labels provides a quick way to automatically format your outlines.

With Outline Labels, heading items get numbered automatically based on the item hierarchy level (i.e. heading level) and any change in the hierarchy is immediately updated:

1- Managing Outline Labels

The Manage Outline Labels dialog is used to define labels:

  • The left pane shows the list of defined label sets
    • Right-click to Add / Delete label sets
    • Click the down arrow to Add / Delete / Import / Export sets
    • Click OK to save or Cancel

Field Defaults

Submitted by David_H on 2017/02/12 23:13
This is a small one and not a big deal, but since it's would be very easy I am suggesting it. I am constantly creating new fields and it would be nice if they didn't default to "show in new grids".  Since most dedicated IQ users are probably going to have hundreds of fields for every 5 or 10 they want to "show in new grids", I am suggesting the default for that should be unchecked.  In my case i constantly forget to uncheck it , so then I create a new grid and find columns showing up that I don't want there, then remove them, then go back and find those fields and uncheck "show in new grids".

Two emails sent to IQ (one from laptop shortly before it was hibernated)
