OT: Print to PDF

Submitted by WayneK on 2020/04/24 19:49
Does anyone know of a print to pdf solution that will capture comments along with web articles?

When I do research and take notes in InfoQube I like to have a pdf copy of the original source so I can mark up which sections I've taken notes on.

For web articles, I select the text of the article and use Print>selection>print to PDF to create a pdf of the article.

Some of the articles have comments at the end which I want to include in the PDF.  For some reason, the pdf printer will not recognize these on some websites.

I've tried multiple pdf printers and all the top Firefox PDF addons, including screen capture software.  Nothing works correctly.

Does anyone have any other ideas to try?  Manual copy/paste and formatting of extensive comments is a pain.

Google Tasks or MS To Do ?

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2020/04/24 08:41
Hi IQ Users !

Google Tasks sync is now working quite well. How many or you are using it ? How many are using Google Tasks ?

The reason I ask, is that Google Tasks is so minimalistic, and seems to be evolving so, so slowly.

Microsoft To Do on the other hand is getting regular updates and has many more features... How many are using it ? Should IQ sync with it too ?

Link Title Missing

Submitted by WayneK on 2020/04/24 01:16
I have a long-standing problem with link titles not showing up when I drag a link from my browser into InfoQube.  It has always happened to some degree (maybe 10% of the time).  Just now it happened 6 times in a row.

Instead of inputting the webpage title automatically, it displays the title of the InfoQube file and I have to manually type or copy/paste the web title.

Any ideas on how to get this to work more consistently?

Create a new tag crash

Submitted by KeithB on 2020/04/20 22:33
I've been inputting a large number of tags, and have been getting "total" crashes, 7 yesterday and 2 today. The crashes are such such that IQ just disappears.
Each time it has happened when I enter a totally new tag, or two of them in succession.

In the tags pane area. I enter mynewtag1 then enter, enter (all three done very quickly). Occasionally this will crash IQ, but I haven't been able to make cause it on purpose.
The 2 occurrences today were both when typing 2 new tags in quick succession, and it "blew up" at the second one.

The only thing new in my setup is that I have the doc pane, tags pane, and properties pane attached together,on a second monitor. Main monitor has the grid and home page open.

Keyboard shortcut or automatic option to remove whitespace from beginning of item text on finishing editing

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2020/04/18 17:44
I'd like any unnecessary blank lines at the top of the item to be removed. For example, this often occurs when I split items. Maybe it could be limited to just that: removing whitespace from the beginning of items that were created as the result of a split. Thanks!

Icon quality

Just wondering if you were open to improving the size / quality of icons in IQ if your users vow to do the necessary artwork / conversion required? There seems to be a lot of pixelation going on with the current icon settings. Cheers

Expand button options

Minor suggestion.

Could we have more options for the expand/collapse buttons?

I have trouble clearly seeing which items have subitems.

The best option for visibility is the triangle.  I don't understand why the color changes from black to light gray when a header is collapsed.  This is counter-intuitive since it's more important to see it when the outline is collapsed than expanded (the latter condition is obvious!)  With gray rows, the light gray triangle is hard to see.

So it would be an improvement to just make the triangles stay black .

More options would be welcome.  I'm not sure what.  Maybe size (small/med/large) and color?

InfoQube Outliner Announcement ! (now updated)

Forums
Hi IQ Users !

Quite often people have asked for a simpler version of InfoQube, centered around outlining
(not the more general task of information management)

As I was busy completing InfoQube’s feature set, it was always postponed

Now that IQ is closer to completion (with Google Calendar and Tasks working just fine), I got around to doing just that…

It will be named InfoQube Outliner, unless users come up with a better name ;-)

Exit are: Gantt and Timeline charts, 2-D Surface, Map view, Events and Calendars, User code, Pivot table and charts, Home pages, Google Sync, SQL Filters, EMail-merge, ODC links, Dialer, Remote-database sync

What remains are:
1- Outliner with columns
2- Card view -- 2-D desktop-like surface with items shown as 3x5 index c
