Adding existing items to the calendar

Submitted by gregory on 2013/09/04 04:32
Hello. Sorry for the long silence... Pierre, bonjour et j'espère que tout est bien en ordre à l'égard de mon paiement même si ceci a été fait par beaucoup trop tard ?

A simple query to which I can no longer find the answer. I have imported  a lot of appointments from Excel. They do not, of course, actually appear in the calendar and field ItemInCalendar is not checked. I understand that that is achieved when the date in the item is clicked. However there is no option that I can discover to request that the item be shown in the calendar, either on left- or right-click. The dialogue shown in the calendar documentation does not appear.

What do I need to do to get these items to apear in the calendar?

Managing Email with IQ

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2013/08/17 11:30
Has anyone tried to manage an email account with IQ?
Do you find it practical?

Currently, I do use IQ for electronic billing notices by creating filters in my email client (TB) & forwarding to a separate iq email address
Example: filter for "due date", "amount due" "account balance" "account number" "payment due"

These emails then appear in an email view & bill/payment view sorted by due dates that appear in the calendar with payment ticklers / reminders

Just thinking about other applications......

Further development of gantt charts

Submitted by Jon on 2013/08/04 18:27
Pierre:

Using the gantt chart as a project management tool is very useful. I have mentioned some problems previously and am now wondering if the gantt chart will be improved. What do you have in mind for the near future? For example, I am finding that the lack of choice for task dependency imposes serious limitations with regard to project management. Unless I am missing something, we already have finish to start. Would you consider adding start to finish, start to start, and finish to finish?

There are several other functions to consider, but rather than list them, I'd like to read what (if any) direction you anticipate.

Menu Bars moving around spontaneously

Submitted by GSLulos on 2013/08/03 15:38
Today, when I opened one of two databases that I use every day, the Grid menu bar was at the top of the window instead of at the bottom where it HAS ALWAYS BEEN. AND, All of the menu bars for the HTML window were stacked inside the HTML window instead of around the top and left side where they HAVE ALWAYS BEEN. I have tried several times to grab and drag each of several of them, but the result is "Not Responding" and I have to close the database manually (force it closed). I ran Repair Database and Compact Database twice each, in between forced closes and reopenings. I have tried moving several different menu bars, a total of 20+ attempts.

UI quirk when creating sub-item

Submitted by Tom on 2013/07/17 10:21
To reproduce:

1) Create an item using the enter key (I have to press enter twice here - "Enter creates a new item" is disabled)
2) Create a sub-item using Ctrl+Enter keys - a new sub-item is created (see mouse arrow in screenshot)
but a "field" drops down from the source bar with the active cursor in it (see red arrow in screenshot)
-
This drop-down text area  works perfectly well - I can write my text, it gets transferred to the item's item filed when I press enter.

But it is unexpected behaviour.
Note: it does not happen when adding sub-item via item's context menu.

!!NOTE -  screenshot shows pre-releace #9 - this also happens in #11

Erratic problem and annoyance

Submitted by Jon on 2013/07/10 10:10
I know that this will not be able to be addressed because it does not happen often, nor can I identify antecedent commands that lead to this. There seem to be none. However this and other erratic problems intrude upon work flow in IQ and do not contribute to the perception that IQ is stable (this last thought is not from me, but from a colleague who experienced this problem  too but on her own created-from-scratch file).

1. Open my file.
2. Add a few items.
3. Use CTRL+2 to open children at level 2. This does nothing. Try other CTRL+Number combinations. None are working.
4. Re-start IQ.
5. Try again. CTRL+Number works fine now.

This has been on 10 and 11 and possibly other versions but I did not mention it. Now that I am using IQ for actual work, these glitches become more noticeable and more annoying.
