So, some while ago, I decided to be clever and keep most of my VBScript code as user code. This is shared between IQbases which meant that I didn't need to keep copying VBScript code whenever I started a new IQbase.

Unfortunately, at some recent point, I have lost a significant amount of my user code. Furthermore, as far as I can tell, when I seek to go back to a much older IQbase which I believe should contain that old code, I still do not see the missing code.

Three questions:
1. Where is user code stored; is it in the most recently opened IQbase? In some deep recess of the InfoQube product itself? In the registry???
2. How can I go back to some earlier version of that user code?
3. For the future, how can I safely back up the user code? Or what other strategy do you recommend?

So "save the changes" actually means "go ahead and delete it", while "don't save it" actually means "I want to keep it".  Only a programmer would come up with language like this . 

 

Seriously though, that should be changed to an industry standard type that doesn't encourage mistakes nor require the user to read it 3 times and then click on one hoping they've interpreted it correctly.  Personally I don't believe it should even be mention that content was deleted, because you need to have a universal message that applies to ANY HTML changes, whether a line was added or deleted.  It s

Here are some things I'd like to see in the Shift+F2 "floating" edit text box.

 

(1)  make it movable, i.e. truly floating.  (put a border around it that the mouse can grab on to?)

(2)  maybe make keystrokes work more like they would in a grid cell.

 

For example,

 

(1) in a grid cell Enter saves changes to the item and creates a new item.  In the Edit box, it inserts a carriage return.

(2) you can't tab down to the OK button in the edit box.  Tab inserts a tab in the text.

I wish to duplicate – create a completely new copy of – an item at the third level in a hierarchy. I key control and C and choose option five in the dialogue which follows:

5- Selected items and their sub-items
(in XML format, to make an exact copy of the items
and all their sub-items and paste it in an IQBase)

I key control and V and choose the first (unnumbered) option in the dialogue which follows:

Paste under the current parent, as NEW items
(i.e. new items will be independent from the original
items)

Tools > Options > Email

Item > Send Email

 

Both look intriguing but I can't find any documentation that tells me exactly what the capabilities are or how they work.

I am entering items one after another in a grid, and soon i reach the bottom of the grid.  When I am at the bottom of the grid, and entering a new item, I cannot see all the text entered into the item field.  I would like to be able to scroll the grid past the last item in the grid, so I can bring the bottom item closer to the middle of the grid display.  I found several workarounds but they are clumsy.

The time taken from starting the Field Properties dialogue to InfoQube being ready to accept commands is a little over four minutes for one of my IQbases. This seems rather slow and makes incremental development painful.

 

Reorganising the IQbase makes no appreciable difference.

 

I attempt to rebuild the same IQbase, and this fails with error-message:

Rebuild failed (Error= Application-defined or object-defined error)

 

Does anyone have useful suggestions to make?

using default demo db. grid - ToDo.

 

I select "pivot table" under "view" menu and get the following error box:

 

 

If I:

(1) have source bar enabled

(2) am entering items into the Item column in a grid

(3) switch away from Infoqube to another program and then switch back to Infoqube

the cursor always jumps to the Source Box in the Source Bar.  So that if I try to type something, the effect is to change the source for the grid.  I can always "cancel" out of changing the Source but is a pain.  It would be better if the cursor were still in the grid when I switch back to Infoqbue from another program.
