Problem with dissappearance of item(s) after moving within grid (read on)

Submitted by Tom on 2009/11/24 05:47
This appears to be a bug:

Ctrl+Drag a TLI to become a sub-item of another TLI
Select the item (in it's new sub-item location)
Alt+Left-Arrow to move it back up (I know it's not logical but that's not the point - I had actually dragged it under the wrong item and just did this without thinking, planning to move it under the next item)
Refresh grid - the item has disappeared completely from the grid

When I tried it in clean install, it happened as reported above
When I tried this in a 'TEST' grid in my usual file/install and all the items in the grid disappeared on refresh! I'll have to look closer at that & try figure out whats going on there...

Reinstalling IQ

Submitted by Al on 2009/11/23 23:07
I tried installing v.9.24H5 portable version into the same directory as .9.24D. When I doubled clicked the executable it still loaded .9.24D. I created a new directory and .9.24H5 installed fine. I can live with a new directory, does IQ not install over a previous version?

Filter/source/sort dropdown history : adjustable width.

Submitted by Armando on 2009/11/23 14:05
Some of my filters, sortings, etc. are too long/wide and I can never see them fully. Would it be possible to be able to adjust the width of the drop down history lists ?

Also, being able to name + delete obsolete filters would be convenient, especially for complex ones (when there are only subtle variations between a few filters) -- as someone else requested (Phil ?)

Thanks.

Search tips within IQ? (possible request)

Submitted by Tom on 2009/11/19 05:06
I only ever use the quick search (Ctrl+F)
Also I'm not skilled with search in general (e.g. & / or etc)

Anyways I searched for  broken hatch  this morning & it couldnt find  broken-hatch
I had forgotten there was a hyphen there in the middle. That stumped me for a while...

So I would request that if possible e.g  mad dog  would find  mad-dog - ideally  dog mad  would also work

Concept Maps

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2009/11/18 02:19
By popular demand (!), work was done on the Concept Map, as an alternative display to grids and to allowing easy navigation in the item hierarchy. (Similar to MindMaps)

Open a grid, select an item and do Grid>>Concept Map. If the selected item is different from the last mapped item, user is prompted to choose which one to view. Once mapping, you can:

- Double-click to edit the item text
- Shift+double-click to explore from the selected item
- Item parents are shown above the explored item.
- Items arrange horizontally or vertically automatically
- Properties pane and HTML pane are enabled
- Icon shown to indicate that the item has HTML content or linked to a web page (separate icons for each)
- Item backcolor is shown
- Adding items, drag-drop and hyperlinks are not currently enabled

GUI suggestion(s)

Submitted by Tom on 2009/11/17 09:15
[I wanted to post just about one minor GUI aspect but thought I'd keep the thread title general so it might be useful in future]

Often when using IQ (especially with dualpane), I cant see the full width of the grids sourcebar.
The refresh button stays visible
My request is that the Refresh tooltip show what the grid is being sorted by (or what the grid will be sorted by on refresh i.e. what in the sortbox)
e.g.

Click to refresh grid
Sort: ItemCreated

Pierre I realise GUI isnt high on the list at the moment but I can add this to Mantis if you think it's possible (I know it would be very helpful !)

possible date bug

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/11/16 16:44
Situation:

Every day I keep a log of activities
I sort by date & view 7 days at a time

sometimes on mondays I take notes & then close IQ
When I re-open IQ, my monday notes have 'vanished' from the grid

Actually they haven't gone anywhere

Workaround:

I have to click today /  refresh & they appear
I don't understand why this has to be a manual function
I would think that IQ would know what date it is, i.e. today
