copy & paste

I think another thread on this subject @ www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php demonstrates how nuanced -- and therefore -- how complex,  i.e. talented, IQ can be by offering so many different ways of handling data. So I think it also behooves us to figure out how to be extremely clear about what different functions do in as many ways as possible which leads me to the following suggestion:

The possibility  to:
paste as item = paste text in default color
paste as non-item = paste text in a different color so it is immediately apparent

Thoughts, comments, discussion?

Copying to Excel

Submitted by jsolka on 2009/11/05 10:08
Hi,
I haven't checked IQ updates in a while, so maybe there is some new solution. My one most important thing I would like to do is to be able to copy a part of a grid (that looks just like a grid, without bullets and levels) to Excel that would preserve the same look, without <href>, etc. Also, when I have a hard return in a cell in IQ it shows in Excel as a separate cell. Is it possible to have the same cells with the same content including hard returns shown in Excel? This would make possible for me to really use IQ at my work, otherwise I need to retype everything. Thanks.

Joining more than TLI

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/11/05 09:33
Back in January there was this www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php
Today I had good reason to try this again w the same result, i.e. only TLI;'s were joined while html content was not
I'm wondering if any practical progress can be made in this situation?
I'd like the ability to join html content under certain circumstances

Thanks,

grid fonts chaange in some grids

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/11/04 20:05
I decided to change grid fonts so took the following steps:

Main Menu > Tools > Options > Grids > Grid Font
There I changed the value from Verdana to Courier New
Clicked "OK"
Closed / re-opened IQ
Result: some grids switched over, some were a mix between verdana & courier new, some were all verdana (i.e. none switched over)
Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?
Thanks.

Export to Web - if color hi-lighted, it only prints in...

First,
I exported a list with lots of colour high-lighting to web.
Looks great in IE, Firefox, and Opera
Colours dont show in BlockNote (I was suprised at that)

I also needed to do a printout :
IE - no colour   [edit = see Pierre's reply below]
FF -no colour
Opera though worked a treat The Preview looked quite wonky but the print was perfect
(IMPORTANT NOTE: I'm still at 9.6.4 - was just offered an update to 10.something - probably should but hopefully it wont break this!)

minimizing IQ under zoomed HTML pane

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/11/04 11:03
I grabbed some data I need to use as a reference as I was writing
so
I used the <F11> function on the HTML pane
It zoomed out of IQ but IQ remained behind it
I then minimized IQ to reduce clutter before opening my writing tool only to discover HTML pane went w it

Is it possible to pin zoomed window so it can be used as reference w another program?

Thank you.
