<SOLVED>|"Auto assign the followingfield" (in "manage grids" dialog) : doesn't seem to work when drag/drop item between grids

Submitted by Armando on 2009/08/12 00:20
Step to reproduce :

1- Pick 2 grids with some "auto assign fields" rules.
2- Drag & drop one item from one grid to another
3- Fields are not auto assigned.

NOTE HOWEVER that when "plain" drag & drop is performed (ie : no holding "ctrl" while performing the d&d), the item will "lose" the fields allowing it to meet the previous grid's source (which correct and expected ).

Coming back from add item window into a grid : keyboard shortcuts don't work anymore

Submitted by Armando on 2009/08/12 00:03
Steps to reproduce:

1- press win-n to have the add item dialog appear
2- write something in the "item text" text box
3- write something in the "Other fields" text box (this step might be unnecessary)
4- add item to the database

Back to IQ (using alt-tab, or whatever): keyboard shortcuts like F5, F2, etc. don't work anymore until I click on another grid tab and back again.

New Build Available : 2009 08 11 (recommended update)

Submitted by Armando on 2009/08/11 15:44
New build.

A few bugs have been squashed, some features added...

Some were announced (like the not syncing HTML and properties pane -- have a look at Mantis), some unannounced (like : firefox clips title problem, option in "manage grids dialog" for down arrow to create new items, etc.).

Highly recommended -- if only for the HTML & Properties pane syncing problem).

Thanks Pierre !

Jan Rifkinson's list

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/08/11 13:16
This is in approximate order of importance to me. I think my requests are modest in the sense that they represent mainstream features that users would expect to find in any program in this day and age. This is not say that anyone else's list has less value but it is to say that I don't think there's anything 'techie' or 'esoteric' in  this list (doesn't mean they are easy to implement). But I think most items would make the program more user friendly, something IQ needs desperately IMHO. Thank you.

09/26/09 08:31 am: I'm a lucky guy. In reviewing my list, I can see that a lot of what I thought was important has been improved or perfected to one degree or another. I know that full calendar integration is not scheduled until v9.25 & we're getting close but this is a friendly nag because I believe -- except for Outlook which is no competition for IQ -- there is no outliner out there that has true graphic calendar integration.

Safer sorting

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2009/08/10 22:51
For text oriented outlines, the current column-click sorting is way too dangerous, as sub-items (i.e. paragraphs) will be sorted.

I'm proposing the following solution to equaly handle numeric and text oriented outlines:
  1. If the sort bar is visible, then the behavior is unchanged. Column click sorts items and sub-items
  2. If the sort bar is not visible, then a click on the header selects the column but does not sort . To sort, I've added Sort Ascending and Sort Descending menus on the Column context menu. These will sort TLIs only (hence providing an extra level of protection)

Ditto

Submitted by jhondrick on 2009/08/10 15:32
Ditto is a wonderful little utility that captures and stores everything that goes to the windows clipboard.  it allows you to make multiple copies from one document and paste them successively to another, or just use a copy multiple times.

The problem is that as soon as you switch to the Ditto window, the IQ windows, grid and HTML, lose the focus(?) and are unavailable for a paste.

Is there any way to make the grid/pane maintain the focus until you click something else.

Thanks,

Jack
