tooltips for... Fields in the Propeties pane + Grids cells + Grids tabs : more complete

Submitted by Armando on 2010/07/05 15:46
Pierre : is there a reason why the tooltips are incomplete in the

1- properties pane (only the fields name is shown),
2- for grid cells
3- Grid tabs (the "Description" info, when fairly large, is truncated here -- sometime though, I'd like that info as it gives directions on how to use the grid)

If I want the complete info, I absolutely need to have the new notifications pane opened, but I don't want to open it all the time (especially when the properties pane is opened) as it takes too mush screen estate.

So, if possible  : can we have the complete info in the properties pane + grid cells + Grid tabs tooltips too (like for the fields headers in the grid)

P.S. : I understand that the notifications pane is the new display device for tool tips info, but please don't underestimate tooltips as such...

Does anyone else use OneNote?

Submitted by KeithB on 2010/07/02 22:16
I recently purchased Office 2010, and now have Onenote 2010. Does anyone else use this in conjunction with IQ?
It appears it could come in handy for quick sketches, saved in mht format to pull in.

(And no, I'm not thinking of jumping ship anytime soon. I get a good deal through work on Office, and anticipate Onenote being available there someday (if I live long enough), want to get familiar with it, for when it eventually becomes available at work). In the meantime, it appears it may be handy, and might take the place of the sticky note program I mentioned.

Any thoughts?

Import field mapping file?

Submitted by aucanic on 2010/07/01 19:48
I can't get the import field mapping file feature to work.
I imported a csv file into an IQ file, manually entered the new field names and saved a import field mapping file. This all worked fine.
In a different IQ file, I attempted to import a csv file with the same columns. I tried to load the saved import file mapping file but no fields were loaded.

By the way, why is it necessary to manually enter new field names since IQ already knows them (it shows them at the left and at the top of the import dialog. Why can't it automatically import the fields (based on user choice) and automatically create a grid with the fields as columns?

Thanks for any help

Drop down list in property pane

Submitted by Jon on 2010/07/01 16:21
I am using pre-release 26.

Dropdown lists in the property pane do not seem to work for me. I can click on the item and see the down arrow, but that's it. If I click on the arrow to see the list to make a selection, nothing displays. It seems to freeze the property pane, as I cannot select any other are in this pane. However, selecting another item in the grid frees everything up. I can use the dropdowns poperly in the grid.

how do i bring back the grid name buttons on the left edge?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2010/06/30 19:08
Sorry for such a noob question.  I'm just starting on a new attempt to learn IQ so I can leave Ecco behind.

I was tinkering with the elements of the IQ UI, and I made the grid selection toolbar, together with the buttons for each grid, disappear.  I've been trying to bring it back, but I haven't been able to figure out how.

I did display the Grid Context toolbar and drag it to the left edge, but that doesn't bring back the grid buttons.

Node information disappearing

Submitted by jcsl on 2010/06/29 08:28
This is my first post, and I should first say that this program is great!

I have noticed that if I save the file with a different name and in a different location, the current node information completely disappears. Is this a known issue? I know this is a beta version, but I just want to know if there are operations that may accidentally delete info.

Looking forward to the final release!
