link to item

Submitted by jsolka on 2009/08/03 07:35
When I insert a link to an item into HTML pane (choose other in the upper box and enter item # in the lower box in hyperlink dialogue box):
1. When the item is in a different grid it doesn't work -- worked only once, taking me to the scratch grid. In order to work it again I need to refresh. Is it by design or is it a bug or I do the hyperlink incorrectly? Please explain.
2. Question -- can this link take me directly to the grid that the item belongs to (meets this grid source) instead of scratch grid?

How to move focus from the Scratch grid to the previous grid, on the same item?

Greetings

I've been using linked WikiTags, and they're powerful. Instead of tagging an item {XYZ}, I tag it <a {XYZ}>XYZ</a>, which serves not only as an internal WikiTag but also an active link. Click it, and all your {XYZ} tagged items come up in the Scratch grid. This style of tag is also easy on the eyes and amenable to cutting, pasting and abbreviation.

So let's say I've found the item I wanted in Scratch. What's the best way of working with it, not in Scratch but in the grid I started from? And suppose the item is multi-parented, and I'd like to work with it in a particular context, with the parent and siblings connected to the present project? Any obvious way to get there?

Calendar page.

I want to put a placeholdercalendar page in regarding the calendar.
Any suggestions where to put it in the existing structure, or add a Section 14?  Or put it in the "grids" section?

I especially want to get this text in, since it's difficult to search from, and valuable info as to the present state.
"Using the Calendar is safe, only thing to keep in mind is that appts must be entered / modified only in the Calendar and not in a grid. Apart from that, it is usable, including alarms and recurring events. No need to redo things when it gets updated."

'bout ready to give this program the heave ho!

Firstly, I can't BELIEVE how much trying to find simple information about this program is SOOOO hard that I have built up enough tension to explode.

WHERE is the FAQ? A forum search is simply not good enough.

Why can't I start a new, BLANK file?

I expected that I would be able to create an outline that was a little more sophisticated than what WordPerfect can do without having to learn EVERYTHING that the program can do. Doesn't seem that way!

Before I go buy WhizFolders I will post this here. If I can't get some reasonable answers then I will toss it, buy WhizFolders and then tell everyone else I know who wants an outliner to use that.

How does one create a new, blank file?

Secondly, can one not just press a combination of >Enter< and some other key to get a sibling or child subtopic???

Using the firefox clipper "copy content" + universal clipper --> Still problematic.

I wrote a note in the mantis issue about this.
Was supposed to be fixed but it's not fixed here.

(Reported here : Version 0.9.24D is released but... just to make sure as this bug prevents me to use the universal clipper all together.)

Merging Content from Two IQ Databases

Submitted by David_H on 2009/07/28 23:29
Is there any way to copy and paste information from one IQ database to another?  I currently have two IQ databases, a personal and professional.  I have decided to try and use one for both instead.  I do not care about maintaining fields between the two, I would just like to be able to easily copy and paste items and HTML content.
