2 bugs involving "Start edit on a single click on: Text"

Submitted by eu on 2018/05/31 15:51
1-(only when WYSIWYG is off) In a grid item, I click in the middle of the sentence, but the cursor jumps to the beggining of the sentence (sometimes it jumps to the end of the sentence). When WYSIWYG is off, the cursor appears exactly where I click.

2- Edit mode is activated on the first click only if some item is already activated. For example: I'm writing something in the HTML pane (or if I click in the grid pane, but outside any row), and then decide to click on an item in the grid, the item gets selected, but the edit mode is not activated.

Filter: Only show subitem if the item is the main parent

Submitted by eu on 2018/05/31 11:30
I would like to make this filter: Only show subitem if the item is the main parent of that given subitem.

First usage scenario: I have a first grid (Books) in which the itens are books and the subitems are notes about those books; and a second grid (Thesis) in which the items are chapters of my thesis, and subitems are my paragraphs. Then I make some of the subitems from Books grid children of some of the items of the Thesis grid, as second parents. That's the structure, but, sometimes, I want to look at the Thesis grid and view only the chapters and paragraphs, without the book notes.
A possible workaround would be to autoassign a field to every item of Books grid and then filter by this field(EDIT: the best way to deal with this scenario is filtering by Item Home).

Request: Sort Selected

I dont want to sort all sub-items -- just a subset of them.
Requesting a 'Sort selected' option (ideally available in the context menu).

I dont think that can be done?
Maybe it's getting too complicated -- sort by what?
Me,
I'd be happy with a simple A-Z ascending/descending as per sub-items sort.

Setting the default value for a Yes/No field

Submitted by Paul_J_Miller on 2018/05/30 13:53
How do I set the default value for a Yes/No field.

I need this field to default to Yes unless I set it to No.

I have tried setting the default value field to Yes, YES, True, TRUE and -1 but whenever I create a new item this field is always blank (no) unless I click it which is the opposite of what I want.

This is not covered in the manual.

Related Items

In InfoQube there are parent/child relationships.

I would find it useful to have another type of relationship which is a reference to another item that is not a parent or a child but just a related item.  Like background information or 'see also'.

How InfoQube is different

I've been meaning to share this blogpost for quite some time now.

"Spreadsheets are not just tools for doing “what-if” analysis. They provide a specific data structure: a table. Most Excel users never enter a formula. They use Excel when they need a table. The gridlines are the most important feature of Excel, not recalc.

Word processors are not just tools for writing books, reports, and letters. They provide a specific data structure: lines of text which automatically wrap and split into pages.

PowerPoint is not just a tool for making boring meetings. It provides a specific data structure: an array of full-screen images. "

Formatting of imported text

It seems that when I import text files they end up with some wierd formatting.

They are in Courier New in a very small point size, line spacing set to 1.5 lines and with no word wrap (which causes very long lines).

These files were plain text with no formatting, i.e. they just contained the 8 bit ASCII codes for the characters.  So the question is what determines the format of an imported text?  How can I change it and how can I get the word wrap back?

Grid Group uses?

Submitted by KeithB on 2018/05/26 11:17
I am unclear from the manual what to actually do with grid groups. I think it's just implying it's show a subset of your numerous grids in a named group, then click the grid you're interested in.
The way I use it is to quickly load multiple grids from the properties pane. (From the home page requires switching back and forth)
For example, I click AdrsBook, then Categories, Daily,Inbox,InfoQube,QuickNotes,Todo and finally To-Do's, and they are all quickly loaded (except for grids triggering the annoying over 1000 warning).

1) Am I missing some other obvious uses for grid groups?
2) Is there another InfoQube capability to load multiple grids I'm not aware of?
