We have moved all our company's files from Dropbox shared folder into G Suite team folder.

 

Now we have an "Google File Stream" tools installed in each User's PC, it works similarly as desktop Dropbox , syned ( stream , so do not consume PC's hard drive said so ) with your google file included Team Folder's file.

 

so My question is :

Can we ,  multi users who can work on one single IQ file basis following arrangement ?

I would like to say a BIG thank you to Pierre (and to everyone else for making this forum such a lively and interesting place).

 

But especially for Pierre who has been working very hard over the past year and has made some phenomenal progress.

 

I have more questions and suggestions but I will be not be posting them until the new year in order to give Pierre a break over Christmas.  He deserves it!

Steps to reproduce:

 

1. for any item, do 'copy special', option 5 or 6

2. select an item in the outline on a lower level, e.g. select a child of a top level item

3. paste here with option 1 (as NEW item)

4. item appears as the bottommost child of the parent

5. select pasted item and move it to the left (i.e. up one level in the hierarchy)

6. observe: the item is moved up one level, but appears below the next item further down the grid rather than below its parent item where it should go

 

1. I can not find any way to scroll up or down the grid while editing the text of a grid item without abandoning the current cursor position in the editor. If I use the mouse wheel or scroll bar, edit mode is cancelled entirely and I have to re-enter edit mode with the cursor re-appearing at the very beginning of the item text. On the other hand, if I use the cursor keys to move to the top or bottom of the text of the item I'm currently editing to get IQ to scroll there, I obviously have to manually move the cursor back to the position I was going to edit before scrolling. Also, Ctrl-Up and Ctrl-Down do not work here as they have different functions in edit mode. Most users may not notice this annoyance much, but I use large font sizes (see below) so it is often necessary to scroll while editing to see the preceding / following text inside the item.

 

The other aspect requires a bit of a rant, sorry:

When I left-click on a scrollbar in IQ and just hold the mouse button down or drag the bar, the fans in my PC rev up and CPU usage for IQ goes up to 14% according to task manager. I assume there's some sort of bug at work...

 I tend to have a several documents under revision at the same time; basically documenting thoughts and ideas as they occur to me. To facilitate this, I LOCK a Document Pane to each of those Items and Dock those Panes together so I can quickly switch Documents by clicking on their Tabs. Unfortunately, closing the database loses those Connections and they must be manually re-established each time. It would be convenient and consistent if IQ would store and restore those connections.

Using Cut & Paste on Collapsed Headers to re-organize a Document works great EXCEPT when the Collapsed Header being Cut is the LAST Header in the Document. Then the only thing that gets Pasted is the Text of the Header. Not really a common problem but it can cause you to lose a substantial portion of your Document.

 

Work-around is simple; temporarily place a Level 1 Header at the END of any Document that you are editing heavily.

- Lock item doesn't currently seem to do anything (nothing changes in the properties pane and the item can simply be deleted after creating a new item and choosing 'lock' from the 'item' menu)
