Send to InfoQube using EmailToIQ

What is it all about...

Sometimes, you want to capture some information and you are either not at your computer, or InfoQube is not running or you're using a mobile device.
The EmailToIQ feature really comes in handy in these situations.

The basic principle is to configure IQ to poll a special email address and import any new content.
Importing information into IQ is then as simple as emailing the desired content. As a bonus, this content is also in your emails, searchable on all your devices.

1. Step 1: Create a new email address

This is the address you'll be sending information to, and which IQ will poll. It is best if it serves this sole purpose, so create a new email address.

Images won't display in grid

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/10/22 13:02
I've been working on customizing colors.  I have a few questions.

1) I created a list of new colors in a grid, each with an image of that color as a sub-item.  After I closed and re-opened InfoQube, the images no longer appear.  Instead, I have only file names (eg ItemID5738.jpg).  Why won't the images display?

2) The default colors display as a vertical list of named colors.  I replaced this with my own custom list using the same format (Yellow1|&h00FFFF| etc).  Instead of displaying in a vertical list of named colors, I get two rows of unnamed colors:

while typing in cell, the cell becomes inactive and has to be reactivated for editing

Submitted by jimspoon on 2016/10/20 18:15
When I am entering text in the Item field, I often press Enter to finish that item, and continue typing to enter text in the Item field in a new item.

Lately, however, I have encountered an annoying problem.  After I enter just a few characters in the Item field in the new item, IQ exits "editing mode" and goes into "navigation mode".  The cell I was editing suddenly changes to the "selected items back color".  So, to continue entering text in the cell, I have to reactivate the cell for editing.  Now, I can do this simply by continuing to type, but it causes problems for me.

I think it has something to do with the Properties Pane.  I haven't seen it happen when the Properties Pane is not open.

How do I arrange Grids (like in Ecco)?

Submitted by viking on 2016/10/20 17:53
In Ecco, I have setup my main Window with 4 views in 4 quadrants:

ToDos: Top Left                                       Phonebook: Top Right
Appointments:  Bottom Left                      References: Bottom Right

How do I arrange 4 IQ grids in this manner?
I am able to stack them on top of each other, but I can't figure out how to make two of them (e.g. bottom two) floating so that I can move them to the right?

Hi IQ Users,

In this release (v0.9.84):
  • New: Grid: Outline Styles are now applied to groups when Group By is ON. This makes the groups and grouping levels stand out.
  • New: Grid: If item is already expanded, Item > Expand now expands sub-items
  • New: PopUp editor now supports superscript and subscripts
  • New: Field properties: Can now specify the list of grids to apply the conditional formats (list of grid names, separated by | )
  • New: Properties pane: Ctrl + Shift + # to expand / collapse a branches
  • New: Properties pane: Context menu to show

Fields

In InfoQube, essentially ALL information is stored in fields, in either System fields, or User-Defined fields.
  • There are 4 field types:
    • Text
    • Yes / No
    • Number
    • Date

  • A field is identified by its ID (auto-generated unique number) and its name (which must also be unique).

  • Fields have many properties and these can be viewed / modified using the Field Management Dialog

Showing all of an image in the Item column

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/10/17 07:57
hi,

I find the ability to include images in the Item column really useful. However I always have to manually adjust the row height to show the whole image (images are not massive, but they're more than a single line in height). If there are a lot of such items this can become a bit tedious. Would it be possible to have such items "obey" the Word Wrap command? I know there aren't any actual "words" there to wrap, but it seems logical somehow that Word Wrap should let you see all of what's in the field, whether words or image. Or could there be some other way of doing this?

Ability of the Expand command to expand multiple levels

Submitted by ethanrox on 2016/10/16 14:46
In the current version (v83) if a user is working with the expand and collapse commands, there is a strange asymmetry of functionality.

If Parent X is expanded, i.e. children x,y and z are visible, by collapsing the X, the children would get collapsed. The nice thing is that even with them collapsed, the Collapse command still can be used to hide Parent X in favor of GrandParent Y, essentially mimicking collapse on the part of the grandparent.

The reverse is possible in InfoQube with Ctrl+Shift+1, 2, n-th level, but it would be much more comfortable to the user to just press the same shortcut over and over again, and have the levels unfold one at a time, i.e. ctrl+Left Arrow. And maybe have another command to expand all.
