Clipping Idea/Suggestion

Submitted by David_H on 2017/01/29 20:34
The IQ web page clipper is one of the few things I still find lacking in IQ and I'd like to come up with a good clipping solution for myself now, without waiting for better clipper functionality, as I know Pierre has much more pressing features to work on.  There are some 3rd party clipping solutions that allow me to instantly clean up and format a web page - but the problem is that if you then paste that into IQ it puts it in the database, and I don't want to create a huge (slower) database because of the web clippings.

Right now in the HTML pane right click > paste special gives several options.  Would it be possible to add an additional option of "HTML format with local storage"?  If that options is selected the content would be pasted as an (editable) HTM file along with associated local storage for the HTM file and folder.

Thanks

Autohide : option to click on tabs to unhide (instead of just hovering above)

Submitted by Armando on 2017/01/27 09:49
I often hover over tabs mistakenly, which causes unwanted grids (or other stuff) to appear, etc.
One way to prevent that would be to have the option to show hidden grids (or other content) only when clicking on tabs. I'd really love that.
(One exception to the clicking option would be when dragging/dropping something to a tab -- as it's not possible to click while doing that.)
Thanks for considering it if possible!

Focus problems & sluggishness when switching grids or editing/creating items

Submitted by Armando on 2017/01/27 09:39
The sluggishness I'm experiencing has been around since v90 or 89 I think. I just didn't have the time to post about it. Focus has seen improvements, but it's still shaky.

- When several grids are loaded (let's say more than 10, but on autohide, so only a few are really visible), IQ becomes sluggish : switching grids and creating items is slow.
And then focus becomes a problem.

It's not a show stopper, but it's serious enough to slow me down and be afraid of loosing stuff.
Because the focus change isn't reliable enough and becomes slower, I often mistakenly delete or paste stuff in the wrong items, in other panes, while trying to work in others.

Mind Map HTML Icon Bug

Submitted by David_H on 2017/01/25 17:09
In mind map view there is a little icon that appears on an item to indicate there is content in the HTML pane.  Expanding and collapsing various sections of the mindmap often causes the icon to disappear.  Expand and collapse various sections some more and it reappears.  I find that icon useful...hopefully Surface will also incorporate something like that.

Search Question

Submitted by David_H on 2017/01/20 20:08
When performing searches for items that are child items, search always finds the items, but the "Shown In" column typically doesn't displays the grids in which they actually exist as child items (since they usually don't a value for the grid/s since they are a child item).

Is there a way for search to have the "shown in" column display grids where the items exist as child items?  After all, they are "shown in" those grids, aren't they :-)?

Thanks
