Help connecting gmail to IQ

Submitted by Tom on 2017/01/05 07:11

  • I created a new gmail account for IQ
  • Verified that it's working (has received email from another address)
  • Enabled imap in settings
I added the details as instructed on 2. Send To InfoQube using EmailToIQ :-
2-Step verification is ON (Recommended): Create an application specific password.
It is this application specific password you'll enter in the IQ dialog below.
As a bonus, should you change your main mail account password (recommended every few months), IQ will not require re-connection since it is using an application specific password

Storage Question

Submitted by David_H on 2017/01/04 23:23
Why do some items indicate in the property values section where local storage is for the item, but other items do not? As an example an MHT file displays the location.  However attachments sent via EmailToIQ do not.  Is it practical/feasible to make that more consistent?  Not a big deal, but would be nice if easy/possible to implement.

Thanks

Email to IQ - Very Useful

Submitted by David_H on 2017/01/04 22:38
Anyone not using this should give it a try, it's very useful.  I have a dedicated Gmail account I use for it, everything sent to that account gets synced into my IQ Inbox.  Pierre recently added the ability for IQ to receive attachments, so you can now include pics or recordings.  When I don't want to type on my phone I'm using a simple android app for short voice dictations and emailing them into IQ.  Of course I could also use voice to text and email that way, but there are still too many voice rec errors.

Date Filters

Do any of the menu date filters work on non-calendar grids?  Using the column date filter can be a little laborious depending on what you're trying to accomplish and it would often be nice to have a toolbar date filter that allows the user to select "today" or pull up a mini calendar to quickly filter to a day.  However the date filters I've tried seem to only be related to the calendar.

Thanks

Calendar Menu

  • New Event...: Shows the New Event dialog
  • New Event uses: Shows a list of date fields. New events will use this date field. Default field is Appointments

  • Edit Event...: Shows the Event dialog
  • Delete Event: Shows a dialog of delete options (event, event and date-value, item)

Maintaining Seperate Settings for Different Computers

Submitted by David_H on 2017/01/01 23:15
Due to the resolution and size of my desktop (4K 50") versus laptop (15" 1920 x 1200) I would like to have things laid out differently for each.  I believe I read recently this was now possible, but I'm not sure how to enable it.  I know how to load layouts, but unless I'm mistaken, the last active layout still opens when I switch between machines, and if it's optimized for one won't be optimized for the other.

Whereas I want completely separate settings for each, for instance different column widths on my desktop versus my laptop.  How would I accomplish this?

Thanks

More Info on Tab

Submitted by David_H on 2017/01/01 18:40
Just an idea I am throwing out there.  Would it be practical/feasible to either include more info on the grid tab area for a birds eye view of a grids settings?  As an example, in addition to:

"Items from fields x, Filter = x, sort by - x"...

How about also "display mode = x, context parents = x"

I'm thinking it would be nice to have a birds eye view of all the settings.  Not sure if practical though.
