Search Question

Submitted by David_H on 2016/08/24 18:15
Why do some items in search come back with "shown in" blank, even when they should (I would think) have a result.  Please see attachment with example.

Also, is there a reason we cannot add columns to the search grid?  Being able to do so would make it much easier to figure out which item you're looking for when they are many results, for instance if I could display the parent column.

Thanks

Question about PivotTables

Submitted by ethanrox on 2016/08/22 15:42
I want to use PivotTables in InfoQube, yet at the moment I get this message when I try to open a PivotTable for a Grid (see attachment).

Running v79a portable, Win7 64Bit, Office 2010 Pro (additionally installed the Office Web Components 2003 - followed a link from the forum to get it).

Do you have any suggestions?

Problems solved by going back to 0.78

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/08/21 16:28
hi Pierre,

you might want to know that two of the problems I reported are solved by going back to 0.78:
  • outline styles having no effect
  • any subitems formed from pasted text lose their Item text, usually when they/their TLI are assigned to another grid, but at other times as well
These problems only occur in 0.79a. I guess there are minor releases between 0.79a and 0.78, but 0.78 is the nearest I have.

The other problem I mentioned, that subitems are not imported when using the Import > Hierarchical Data option, and the "Add all items to grid" option is checked, is still there.

cheers

Trying to assign items from one grid to another...

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/08/21 10:06
InfoQube and me are not getting on very well at the moment... Still working on the data that I tried in vain to import hierarchically (see here). In the end I did a straight copy and paste from the text file and went through it doing the indenting item by item. Then, I decided I wanted the whole lot to appear in another grid. So I made the new grid (a standard yes/no grid), selected all 155 items in the original grid, and in properties ticked the box for the new grid.

So OK, the new grid now has 155 items in it. But they look like this:

Outline Styles have stopped working

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/08/20 16:14
hi,

ever since I did a Save-As on one of my databases, outline styles have stopped working in the created db. The only change I made in the "copy" was to delete all the items - except for the OutlineStyles grid. Then adding items and applying styles to them, nothing happens. The original db was also problematic at first, styles not working, eventually it came right after saving, closing, reopening, both grids and db. None of this has worked with the "copy" db.

Shouldn't the "copied" db (the one you get as a result of the Save As) work identically to the original for this sort of thing?

DavidF.

edit: ... and now Outline Styles have stopped working completely, as far as I can tell in all databases. Eg in the original database, that I did the Save As on, I tried switching off Styles, they switched off, couldn't get them back.

{ActiveGrid} option for the "Program title bar" setting

Submitted by ethanrox on 2016/08/18 10:21
Sometimes it's more convenient to have multiple IQ instances running at the same time.

With the current options for the title bar, it is not possible to differentiate between each instance from the Taskbar where the user has left things off, i.e. which Grid.

Could it be possible to add another keyword such as {ActiveGrid} for example?

keeping IQ portable program files in Dropbox - bad idea?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2016/08/14 23:07
For a long time I've been running the portable veersion of IQ.  And I got the idea that it would be convenient to put the IQ program files folder into a Dropbox folder.  That way, whenever I wanted to update to a newer version of IQ, I would just copy the newer IQ program files over the older program files in the Dropbox folder.  That way, I would not have to update the IQ program files manually  on each computer that I use.  Rather, when I updated the program files on one computer, Dropbox would update the iq program files on all computers that I use.
