Grid Groups

As your information in InfoQube grows in size, so will the number of grids (typically used to show this information).
It is possible to group grids and show these groups in home pages and the Properties pane

Examples of groups could be:
  • Projects at work, each project specific grids, plus some general ones can be grouped
  • Home related info
  • If the IQBase is shared with other family member or office co-workers, users can select which grids are pertinent to them

Groups are easily managed using the Grid management dialog:
  • In Other > Groups, enter the list of groups that each grid belongs to (comma separated list)

Bringing in Outlook items

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/08/02 05:39
hi,

when I click and drag a file into IQ, I get an option to not just create a link to the file, but to add it to the HTML Pane. Would it be possible to do the same with Outlook items? Unless I'm missing something - at the moment, if I click and drag an Outlook message to IQ, it immediately creates a link, but doesn't give you an option to put anything in the HTML Pane, as per the "File Link Add" dialogue.

cheers

Quickly Filter a Grid Based on a Field that is Not a Column?

Submitted by David_H on 2016/08/01 21:04
I often want to (temporarily) filter on a field that is not a column.  What is the fastest way to do it?  I'd like to be able to right click on the field in the property pane and select "show items from this grid", but the only option that I am aware of there shows all items from the entire database.

Thanks

Filter icon inconsistency

Submitted by Jon on 2016/07/28 14:36
Question about filtering columns in 78B.

This could apply to any filtered columns, but let me provide my specific observation. I have several date columns. I filter the first for a certain date. The second is filtered for Blank. The indicator appears at the bottom of the screen confirming what is being filtered. The column that is filtered on a specific date displays the filter icon but the other column filtering "Blank" has no icon. Shouldn't the icon show?

Then I try filtering for blanks in both of the date columns. Now there are no filter icons for both columns but the indicator at the bottom shows both filters are active.

To me this appears to be wrong.

Thank you

Small afternoon post to express my gratitude to all  IQ/SQLnotes users,"believers" and skeptics  -- for debugging, participating, just using, etc.
IQ is nothing without its users, AND... it's especially nothing without its god and main user: Pierre

Thanks Pierre for your dedication, passion and hard work -- I hope you know it's worth it. (And, of course, may that deserved feeling of worthiness soon be accompanied by tangible prosperity!)

Column Disappeared from Every Grid

Submitted by David_H on 2016/07/27 00:54
Any idea why this would happen or what could cause it?  I have 50+ grids and a column named "Type" that it in every one of them.  Today the column disappeared from every single grid.  The field still exists, but the column is gone.  In the process of disappearing it also caused several grids that filter on that column to lose their filter settings.

Some things I did today in case related to the bug:
- Deleted a few fields, but none related with equations to the Type field AFAIK.
- Used the Grid save command.

Also, interestingly, I believe this is the same column that for some bizarre reason often gets left out when I use a column set to add it (it is in the column set but sometimes using the column set adds it, sometimes it doesn't).

Can't copy/paste items with HTML content

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/07/25 16:26
I started out taking notes in the HTML pane for one item, then decided it would be better to break it up into multiple subitems.  Problem: how do I transfer the notes I've already taken to the new subitems?  Should be easy but it hasn't been.

1) Most direct way would be to create new subitems, then copy/paste the HTML content to each.  I've never been able to get this to work because too many things are lost in the process (bullet structure is lost, links are lost, images are lost).

2) An equally simple way would be to create copies of the main item then delete the HTML content not needed for each new subitem.  I just spent 30 minutes trying to copy/paste the item but was unable to.  I got one of the following errors:

a) The item text was copied, but not the HTML content
b) The paste was a blank

3) I switched to trying to drag/copy the item

Conditional Formatting and the WIKITag field

Submitted by ethanrox on 2016/07/25 16:14
Is there something like "like" or "contains" for the Conditional Formatting syntax that I can use to evaluate if a string is contained within the WIKITag field?

I have tried using "*" but with no success.

Also a minor bug would be that if the string that I am looking for begins with a capital letter, conditional formatting simply won't work. (v77 portable)

"subscript out of range"

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/07/25 07:05
hi,

I'm getting a frequent "subscript out of range" error message when I copy cells in a grid. Ctrl-Shift-C is Ok - the one that gives you all the options. But Ctrl-C gets you the error. These are cases where all I'm doing is copying/pasting text from one cell to another within the grid. Nothing happens, except you get that message - the copy/paste operation itself works OK.

It also seems that if you have the Item field selected when you do Ctrl-C, you get the "What do you want to copy?" message anyway, so there's no error message in that case. In any other field, Ctrl-C always -> "subscript out of range".
