Syncing Question

Submitted by David_H on 2015/03/25 23:56
Currently I am using DropBox to sync my main database file across two computers.

For the Users file I just copied them across computers.  Am I likely to experience any problems/corruptions if I were to just put all the (portable USB version) files in the DropBox folder so that the Users file (and all other IQ files) also sync?

Thanks

Forms Suggestion

Submitted by David_H on 2015/03/25 16:48
Suggestion 1: Right now to apply a forum you have to select a form in the properties pane and click on one of the itsy bitsy icons.  I could be wrong but I'm betting for a specific grid most users are applying the same form.  So a nice enhancement would be if a default form could be assigned to a grid, the purpose of which would be that you could also provide shortcuts to activate the default form.  For instance I might enter an item, then right click and select "apply default grid form".  Alternatively there could be a toolbar icon for "apply default form grid".

Suggestion 2:  I'm setting up about 10 forms and they are all identical except for one field.  Tools>Manage Forms, it would nice to be able to right click on a form and copy it.

Omnibox instructions ? (for older installs)

Submitted by Tom on 2015/03/25 06:27
After a break of a couple of weeks I'm working with IQ again.
I'm confused with the Omnibox / Find situation
(working with Pre-Rel47)

Instructions for updating older portable installs were to:
  • delete the Search toolbar and
  • remove the Ctrl+F shortcut from Find (menu: edit >Find)

I seem to have already deleted the search toolbar (dont see any)
I deleted the Ctrl+F shortcut and now nothing happens.

Properties pane: "Updating pane"

Hi Pierre!

IQ is generally working well, but in the last 2-3 versions I think, "Updating pane" is happening a lot: the properties pane is a bit slow to update.  1- It prevents me to see the grid I'm working on  or 2- it takes time to display an item's content when I need to see it.

Nothing has changed in the way I use IQ. My properties pane is set on auto-hide to avoid overhead, and is shown only when I need it. My guess is that the pane is waiting for grids to finish their own background UI updating (?) before making its own updates. Generally speaking, I find that all that background (UI?) updating slows down IQ operations in a perceptible way and make work more difficult. (E.g.

IQ's power consumption

Hello,

I have some issues with IQ's power consumption. I use it all the time so it has a measurable impact on battery life and laptop temp/noise (fan speeding up).

1- Simple GUI operation.

E.g.:
- moving focus left/right in columns makes the CPU jump to 25-30%. Many items, many columns, but No filters are active.

2- Equations
