Pivot Table "Binary Field" Error

Submitted by Alp on 2020/03/18 20:10
I have 2 questions about pivot tables:

1. When I open a grid as a pivot table, "Enter Parameters" box comes up. Under "Name" column is "Item" field and under "Value" column I am expected to enter a number. How do I determine what this number should be?

When I enter "1" under "Value" and click OK, the same box appears as a second time where I enter "1" again, without knowing what it means. I entered "3", which also worked, but I couldn't recognize any difference in the outcome.

2. I have names under "Item" field of a grid. I open this grid as a pivot table. When I try to add "item" field onto pivot table I get "Cannot pivot or filter binary fields" error message. This "Item" field has auto assignment rules and conditional formats.

Can't rename grid

Submitted by WayneK on 2020/03/18 17:17
Not sure if this is a bug or just the way it works.

I created a new grid using "save as" then tried to rename the grid, but it won't let me

1) Grid: Papers

2) Grid>Save as>PaperSumms (this creates new grid: PaperSumms with source: Papers)

3) Manage Grids>PaperSumms>Grid Name> [Change name to Summaries] >save>exit

When I return to main view the grid tab still has the old name.  When I go back to Manage Grids, the grid has reverted to the old name.

Guess I have to delete the old grid and create a new one from scratch.  Seems like you should be able to change the grid name directly.

Progress bar or similar indicator for full Google sync

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2020/03/13 17:46
A full sync takes ages for my Appointments and it would be great to have a way of knowing what percentage is currently complete. Also, I feel that the function of clicking the sync icon in the status bar (i.e. start a non-full sync) should be available directly from the Google Connect dialog as well. (To my knowledge, you can only start a full sync from there.) Thanks!

Abort when cancelling large grid loading after clicking on live search result

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2020/03/12 15:52
Probably reproducible: live search for something, get a result that points to a grid with 1000+ items and isn't currently open. In the dialog that pops up to ask whether you just want to load the first 1000 items, select Cancel. IQ aborts. Cheerio!

How do I add an existing item and its sub-items to a grid?

Submitted by Gallipoli on 2020/03/11 19:11
How do I add an existing item and its sub-items to a grid in which the item was not created? (i.e., in a grid which is not the home for the item)

If I update a sub-item or add a new sub-item to the item in any of the grids in which the item is showing, will that change or new sub-item then show automatically in all grids in which the item is shown?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Excessive multiple parents

Submitted by WayneK on 2020/03/10 20:54
Pierre has said you shouldn't overdue multiple parents.

1) At what numerical range of multiple parents do you get into the "overdoing" stage?

2) Does overdoing it refer solely to maximum number of parents (eg don't have an item with 500 parents), or can excessive refer to the number of items even if the individual parent counts are low (eg 10,000 items with 3 parents each)?

I'll have many cases of 2-10 parents but probably not much over that.

Item text invisible bug (special characters to blame?)

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2020/03/10 05:24
Here is a screenshot of five items that have item text but are shown as empty in the grid, nor is anything copied to the clipboard when selecting the item and executing the copy command.

And here is the the text of these items, each starting with a minus / hyphen:

- Zitiertechnik: oberflächlich / nur formal // grundsätzlich / strukturell
- Textbelege: zu wenige oder zu viele Zitate / nicht ausgewogen oder anschaulich //  fehlen völlig
- stilistische Schwächwen: stellenweise // durchgängig // eklatant
- falsches Tempus: stellenweise // nahezu durchgängig

Item Editor folders windows width

Submitted by KeithB on 2020/03/07 17:56
The Folders window of the item editor can't be adjusted to show the fields /grids of long length in their entirety.
This also means the arrow doesn't show, so I can't click on it to go to a grid.

Ideally, this window would be adjustable enough to show the longest grid length allowed plus the arrow (if it's a grid), and the qty.

(It would also be nice to have the same for the tags window)

Backup grid assignment

Submitted by WayneK on 2020/03/07 12:52
I need help with what I thought was a simple tax.

Two grids: 1) Papers; 2) Papers-bup

I want all TLIs assigned to (1) to also be assigned to (2).

Auto-assign field list in Manage Grids isn't what I want because it also assign subitems.

I should be able to get what I want using the Data Source option in Manage Grids

I've tried the following sources for the Papers-bup grid:

1) Papers
2) Papers, Papers-bup
3) Papers OR Papers-bup]

Can't find text inside doc / HTML in search from Omnibox

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2020/02/29 15:35
Is this a missing feature or a bug in 0.9.114s?

1. Create item 'test'
2. Edit item and put some rare word in the HTML pane
3. Search for the word using the Omnibox

As it is, the item doesn't turn up in my search results. I am unsure now whether this used to work or whether it never worked, but manual seems to suggest that it should:

The Doc editing pane... is used to:
Enter "rich text" content (HTML). Each item can have a separate document. There is no limit to the amount of text that an item can contain. The text is saved as part of the IQBase file.
