Import customizations

Submitted by modeerf on 2010/05/23 14:06
I've looked and really don't see anything that addresses what I want to do.

I was a long time Ecco user but left it a few years ago and have tried everything to replace it, but have found nothing yet. I want to give IQ a shot.

I've played with it for a few weeks and I'm getting a decent idea of how to work with it, I've borrowed from other's templates and I'm really about to create 'my database' that will work for me. But I need to load some data in to get started.

I want to start with my contact database. My goal is to create a grid that will list contacts with item being lastname, firstname but the csv to import from has them both in separate field. Is it possible on the import to have it fill item with lastname without editing my underlying CSV?

thanks

Conditional Formatting based on indent level.

Submitted by chapa on 2010/05/22 22:26
I am trying to use conditional formatting based on the indent level, so I tried the following on the  Item field:

' Use a larger text size for items that are at the root level in the outline.
Criteria:  nbParents=0
Formats: ItemTextSize=35

This doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have a workaround?

Thanks,
Chapa

Field option to prevent a field to be copied

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/20 21:40

Could an option to prevent a field to be copied be useful?

I previously used the readonly "defect" in my IQMinutes DB to be able to copy paste a template while skipping some fields -- but this won't work anymore, of course. I can manage (with auto-assign options...), but this occurred to me like a potentially useful feature, like for "templates" copy/paste.

e.g. : John wants to copy a template. The template grid has a special "template" marker. When he copies that template and pastes it to another grid, it loses its template marker so that the copied version isn't considered a template anymore. The template marker can be read, but not copied.

Like I said, a workaround can be achieved with some special "A:" autoassign rules (like : "A:template=" in a specific source field).

Manage fields dialog : When a field is created, it's not possible to edit anything in the "Editor" section

When a field is created, it's not possible to edit anything in the Editor section -- the pop-up list is locked, etc..
One needs to switch to another field and come back to the newly created field.

Ecco import problems

Submitted by Jon on 2010/05/20 11:18
Using pre-release 24. A few Ecco import problems remain:

1. If I choose to import selected TLIs and subs, all ECCO folders are imported. Empty ones should not be imported since I have the relevant option unchecked.
2. I can correctly import (see #1) only if I use the analyze option.
2. Trying to import with Import Ecco Item ID unticked sometimes causes IQ to close unexectedly.

Summary of my issues left in 0.9.25Pre-Rel24

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/20 03:34
First off, a big thanks to Pierre for his work on the new pre-release and all his nice feedback on the forums, and to all the other users here who have been very constructive and positive .

Since I've made quite a few posts over the past couple of weeks while trying to get started with IQ, I thought it would be a good idea to post a summary of what issues I've commented on that still appear to be outstanding in the latest release.

Manage grids bug : Modifying the name of a newly created grid isn't possible if focus is moved to another grid and back again.

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/19 00:27
If you create a grid in the manage grid dialog, and move the focus to another grid name, you can't come back and modify the name of the new grid. The name of the previous grid will show, whatever you do.

Anybody can confirm that ? I can enter these in Mantis if necessary

Manage grid dialog : multiple grid creation isn't possible (+ other related bug)

you can't create more than one grid at a time.

If you do :

(a) if  you move the focus to another grid name, you can't come back and modify the name of the new grid.
(b)  The first created grid will show, but not the other ones, after you close and reopen the manage grids dialog (of course they won't show in the grid menu either.).
