"Comments" delimiters for filters ... Would that be possible soon ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/02/09 01:29
Hi Pierre,

"Comments" delimiters for filters, etc. were proposed a while ago (and I can't find where and when).

Since named filters aren't there yet, could some delimiters be defined for comments in filters (so that users can easily name filters, and identify them easily without having to interpret them each time -- which can be a bit of a challenge for very complex ones : e.g. :((zztask or task) and (  ( ((urgency >= 0  or urgency is null or (due-now<1)) and followupdate is null) or (due is null and followupdate is null) or (followupdate-now<1) )   AND  (done is null)  )) and xmo is null and solution is null and (ABCD_priority not like "D" or ABCD_priority is null) and EnAttente is null )

As you know, SQL uses  "--"  for simple comments, or /*  */ for bracketed comments.

<SOLVED> Did something change in IQ's character set ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/02/06 12:15
I'm asking because :

1- if I copy/paste anything, using any method, the content of a cell, without going into edit mode, some accents will get replaced by weird character combinations in the grid.

2- if I copy/paste the content of a cell, but using edit mode : everything is ok.

anybody else ?

(this is related to the other thread where I  tried to copy XML as TLI : Can't copy or paste items : XML or tab delimited or anything else.)

<SOLVED> Hierarchical calculations + re-calculate : don't work properly ? (major)

Submitted by Armando on 2010/02/05 14:12
I know that there are some issues in relation to hierarchical calculations. Some of them were put in Mantis I believe or mentioned herer -- will check that out later.

However, some things seem just wrong. But maybe am I not getting something.

Example :

1- a TLI with sub items  has as the hierarchy equation of task%complete : "parents = avg ((children))"
2- all subs have some values in the task%complete field
3-  I remove all sub-items
4- The average remained unchanged (no recalc) in task%complete, even it it should change (yes, it should).

Fine, I know there is an issue (I think it's a pretty major one, no?) with removing children and re-calc.

Interesting outlinersoftware.com post

There's an interesting thread on the outlinersoftware forum about InfoQube from someone trying to learn it.  It has some good food for thought for  any of us pondering how to get people to "get it" more quickly.

I've noticed there are several people on here adept at videos; that might be an area to think about, to possibly create more of, for people who don't "get it" easily with the written manual.
