how to float a detached tab in a pane?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2019/08/20 22:07
I'm wanting to come up with options for viewing two or more grids at the same time, without having to switch between them.

I right-clicked on a tab, clicked Detach Tab.  This tab was no displayed in its own pane at the right-size of the IQ main window.

Now I would like to float this pane and move it outside the main IQ window.

I can float the document pane by double-clicking the title bar of the document pane.  Then I can drag the Document Pane outside the main IQ window by dragging the same title bar.

This doesn't work with the detached tab in the pane though.  Is there another way to do it?

Thanks in advance!

On renaming a database and its related files and folder

Submitted by carloscadu on 2019/08/20 13:47
Hi,

I'd appreciate your advice for renaming a database and related files and folder.

I looked for "renaming" under menu "Tools>Managed Database".

Since I haven't found such functionality, I changed the name of this set of files and folder manually:

Sample.SNDB.Files (Folder)
Sample.ini
Sample.SNBKA
Sample.SNDB

Possible Bug - New item Dialog Crashes

Submitted by Bad Dog on 2019/08/14 12:10
Under certain conditions, the New Item Dialog crashes IQ.
The dialog works as expected as long as I don't use the document pane. As soon as I give focus to the document pane, IQ crashes.
I have not seen any entry on the forum related to this problem, so I'm thinking it may be due to a problem with my setup or option choices.
Has anyone experience this?

self-extending item ('<DIV /DIV> bug')

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/08/08 17:31
I've come across this a number of times but only this time thought to save the item to post it here. When I edit the below item in the grid and press enter to exit editing without any changes, the item extends itself with part of its own text. Not sure what causes this to happen for an item, it has something to do with cutting and/or pasting longish bits of text into them in edit mode. I hope you can make something of it...

Ctrl+E Does Not Work in Search Grid

Submitted by josh on 2019/08/08 10:04
 Hello,

When in a grid Ctrl+E brings up the item editor window so I can immediately start editing the item. When I search for an item in the search grid and hit Ctrl+E it doesn't do anything.

If this isn't a bug, can this feature be added please?

Cheers,
Josh

PS. I am rapidly falling in love with InfoQube, so thank you so much for making it Pierre!

Store Database on Network Folder

Submitted by josh on 2019/08/06 11:47
 Hello,

At work we have individual network folders (Shared Drives), and I am wondering if it would be safe to place a database on the shared folder?

I ask because I would like to run IQ on a USB key, so that I can plug it into any computer on site and it will connect to the database which would always be at U:\IQBases\

Is it safe to do so?

Thanks,
Josh

Portable Run Error: This app can't run on your PC

Submitted by josh on 2019/08/05 11:35
 Hello,

I had an issue with the installed version of IQ, so it was suggested to use the portable version. I've followed the steps and created a folder in C:\IQ\ and unpackaged IQ. I tried to launch IQ and received this error:

This app can't run on your PC; To find a Version for your PC, check with the software publisher.

So as suggested I ran the UnblockIQPortable script which didn't work, I also ran it via an administrator command line, but that also didn't help. I moved the IQ folder into my C:\Users\USERNAME\ folder which didn't worked, and moved it onto my second drive: D:\IQ\ and that also received the same error.

Search Markdown Document While in Edit Mode

Submitted by josh on 2019/08/05 11:26
Hello,

While in edit mode in a Markdown document Find doesn't open. I've tried both the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+F) and adding the button to the toolbar. If I switch to browse mode Find immediately comes up and I can search. Unfortunately, when using find in a document it is more useful to search for the word then edit there, instead of using Find in browse mode then manually scrolling down the document in edit mode.

IQ Version: 0.9.113f Installed
OS: Windows 10 1803 Enterprise
