Feature Request: Better integration with taskbar when using multiple displays

Submitted by lucasd on 2020/10/07 21:15
Whether I use the installer version or the portable version, IQ's taskbar icon will only appear on the taskbar of the primary display. If I move IQ's window to the other display, the tasbar icon does note move. Whereas with pretty much all the other programs I use, moving the window between displays also causes the taskbar icon to move. Any chance this could be addressed? Thanks!

have IQ monitor folder to create new items to import newly detected files?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2020/10/06 19:07
Just an idea to consider somewhere down the line.  Have IQ monitor a specified folder for the creation of any new files.  If a new file is found, IQ creates a new item with a link to the file, with appropriate fields filled in (Inbox, ItemHasHTML, ItemHTMLFile, FileRef, FilePath, FileName) as appropriate.  This might be a useful and very easy way to get new content into IQ.

Maybe when ItemHTMLFile points to a folder, rather than a file, IQ could monitor that folder for new files and create a subitem for each file in the folder.

And ... to continue the moonshot, perhaps IQ could import the file metadata into IQ fields.

iQ could be integrated with the file system in many more useful ways.

Find and Replace

Traditional "single document" Find and Replace is available in a number of UIs:
  • Document pane
  • Document pane Code view
  • VB Editor
InfoQube v116c introduces field-based Find and Replace implemented as a non-modal dialog.

Two UIs support this:
  • Grids
  • Live-Search

Live-Search: Possible to make the underscore symbol '_' to be interpreted as a string?

Submitted by carloscadu on 2020/10/02 15:07
Hi,

As shown in this screencast (https://bit.ly/3l66rQ2), the Live-Search isn't interpreting the underscore symbol '_' as a string:
Is it possible to make the underscore symbol '_' to be interpreted as a string?
For instance, if I type in the search box TT_, I'd like IQ listing just the items that have TT_ in the item name, but for instance, the current output lists 'Otter' and many otter double TT despite of the underscore symbol.

Thank you,
Carlos

Adding a new field from within Add columns... dialogue does not work

Submitted by gregory on 2020/10/02 15:00
It should be possible to create a new field within the Add columns... dialogue available on right-clicking a column set in a grid. I have tried to use this to add a new text column called "Comments". The dialogue appears to work but no new column is added. Nor is the field created - nothing happens.

The obvious workaround is to create the column separately and then add it to the grid.

Upload multiple rich text items

I wish to move on from my current use of Microsoft Word for my research journal towards the use of InfoQube. The reason for wishing to do this is that by using InfoQube I can classify and tag journal entries. This probably needs what I hope will be a fairly small product development in InfoQube to take on multiple RichText field entries.

Specifically, the journal is structured as a table with two columns, one being date and the other being RichText: embedded tables, images, hyperlinks, et cetera which together constitute a journal entry. The Word document has become very large, about 3000 rows, unwieldy and feels fragile.
