[node:261] items

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/01/26 21:35
After a lot of head-scratching, I came up with a database and accompanying screen shots for the hierarchy page 1. Grid Display Modes.  Assuming it's reasonably accurate, I hope others find it useful. It was a "a-ha" experience for me, to finally sort of understand this stuff.
  1. Did I interpret the existing info there correctly?
  2. Can others access the .sndb file attached?
  3. Are the screen shots accurate?
  4. Once I get the okay, I'd like to remove the table at the top totally.
  5. I made the "display settings" .sndb database only contain the the relevant items and grid; everything else has been removed.

Are people using IQ for email or Thunderbird?

Submitted by ericka on 2009/01/25 22:55
Just curious.... are people using IQ for email composing, sending, receiving?
If so, how?
Jan mentioned "smart folders" like in Zoot... is there a way to do (something like) that in IQ?
Is there a way to save attachments separately in IQ?
If not, how are people associating their email with the emails saved in IQ?
I am switching systems over and may use Thunderbird with Lightening or Sunbird.
However, I am a big believer of keeping everything in one place, and would like for that place to be IQ.
Any comments welcomed.
Thanks, everyone.

Association Calendar and Appointment

Submitted by ericka on 2009/01/25 22:44
As for the new calendar...

When I create an appointment, I want it to show up in the calendar. After checking out the system fields, I realized that Calendar does not have any.  What I did learn is that the calendar item is the date, whereas the Item for appointment is typically the subject of the appointment.

Is the appointment field part of the calendar? How do I get the appointment to show up in the calendar "grid" (if the calendar is a grid)?
For an appt to show up in the calendar, should a calendar item be created in the appointments.appt to show in the calendar?
Does the same apply for a task to show up in the calendar (i.e., to schedule the task)? In other words, should a calendar item be created that Item=TaskActStart?
What if I want to make an email a task and schedule a time to respond in the calendar?

Tomorrow field equation <Sun vs Mon> as day 1

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/25 17:53
'Tomorrow' field equation looks like this: A:Today=|A:ThisWeek=-1|A:NextWeek=
'This week' field equation looks like this: A:NextWeek=

Today, Sunday, I created an item & checked off 'tomorrow'.
'This week' got an automated checkmark based on the equaiton

This leads me to believe that Sunday is considered the first day of the week so tomorrow, Monday is really the 2nd day of 'this week'

However, I would like to make Monday the first day of the week, since I consider Sat / Sun as a wknd
If this is not currently possible, can I hope it will be included in the calendar module... whenever it makes its long awaited appearance.

Thank  you.

Do you all work with the html pane open all the time or do you open it based some field (like 'itemhashtml') ?
And when you open it, do you open it as a floating window or is it docked but unpinned or what?

Curious minds want to know.
Thanks.

Field management UI suggestion

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/01/24 16:33
The "Field management" dialog has alway seemed unintuitive to me. I click "way down there" for "New" , then my eyes look "way up there" to the name field, then they focus once again "way down there" to save/close, etc.

I cobbled together a screenshot of what it could look like, (moving the existing stuff from the bottom to the top)--that's what I'd like to see.
