How can I add my custom styles (not style sheet) and edit existing ones in Doc Pane?

Submitted by wenmin92 on 2019/01/17 04:12
I don't want to set every properties when I want some words in the paragraph or the whole paragragh have a special style, that's boring and inefficient.
If I can define a set of custom styles like MS Word, that will be handy.

Thanks!

Scrollbars, CPU load and items with lots of text

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/01/16 06:24
At the moment, IQ keeps adapting the size of the scrollbar in the background to reflect the size of the currently selected item in relation to the overall length of the grid, its entire vertical dimension. While this visual information may be useful, it seems to lead to a number of problems. I have been aware for some time that scrolling / background scrollbar changes lead to high CPU load as the fans on my PC seem to be very sensitive and react immediately with increased audible activity in such cases.

However, when I recently experimented with items holding lots of text in order to debug the 'item text reduced to single blank line in word-wrapped column' issue I posted in another thread, I realized there were a slew of other problems.

ItemHTMLText field accessible? batch move text from ItemHTMLText field to Item field?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2019/01/15 22:25
I have "Hide in Info Pane" and "Hide in Available Fields" unchecked for both the ItemHTML and ItemHTMLText fields.  In the past I seem to recall being able to see the contents of these fields in the Item Properties > Values section, as well as the "All Fields" sections of the Properties Pane.  But these fields don't appear in the Values section now.  They do appear in the All Fields section, but nothing appears in the value cell, even though there is HTML content displayed in the Doc Pane.

(Oddly enough, if I press Shift+F2 to try to display the content of these fields, a New Event dialog appears.)

The reason I mention it is, I think there might have been some cases in which it might be useful for these field contents to be accessible.  For example, I might want to extract some portion of the content of the ItemHTMLText field and put it into the Item field.  In fact I ju

Scroll then collapse issue

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/01/13 16:54
Expand some subitems (I've only tried this with TLIs and their children), then scroll down so that some of the children of a parent disappear at the top while some 'younger' children of that parent are still visible at the very top of the grid view. Then click to select one of those still visible children and press Ctrl-Left to collapse the branch. Now the tree will not be collapsed until you cursor up or Ctrl + cursor up or the mouse wheel to scroll up until the parent item is moved back into the visible area.

Ctrl-Left doesn't entirely reverse Ctrl-Right

Not sure if this qualifies as a bug, but it does seem somewhat counterintuitive. Or maybe it's meant to work that way. Anyway, I would like to hear your opinions.

Having selected an item that has subitems on two or more levels further down (with everything collapsed), you press Ctrl-Right twice, you unfold any items two levels down, i.e. if any subitems of the selected item have children, then those item's branches are also expanded, i.e. the sub-sub-items there are also shown. However, when you press Ctrl-Left now, the top level is collapsed immediately, i.e. you can see nothing below the selected item anymore. When you expand again to the next level, you can see that the sub-sub-items are still visible, i.e.

Unwanted column movement explained

Submitted by WayneK on 2019/01/12 16:10
I'd posted previously that I was getting unexplained column movement as follows:

1) Click on item column header to select column for sorting
2) Instead of selecting the column, InfoQube moves the column that's on the right side of the item column to the left side of the column.

I think I've figured out what triggers this behavior: it occurs when the item column isn't fully visible (extends beyond the right edge of the window),  Doesn't happen every time but maybe 30% of the time.  When column is fully visible, it doesn't occur (so far).

Definitely in the FWIW category but figured I'd post the "solution" to a little behavioral oddity.

Visual clue for items that contain text not shown in the grid (risk of data loss)

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/01/10 04:21
I suggested something like this before, but only now realized that a lack of this feature could actually cause data loss.

The extent of the problem depends on the width of a grid's 'window'. For grids shown in a narrower window, less of the items' text is shown in the grid. In the worst case, if you have blank lines at the beginning of an item's text, this can lead to the item being shown as completely empty and thus becoming visually indistinguishable from a dispensable blank item. When cleaning up and deleting blanks, data can be lost inadvertently.

Multi-select Filter Issues

Multi-select list filtering

1) I want to use a multi-select list to assign categories to a list of items, then use the same multi-select list to filter the list by checking off categories.

2) It doesn't seem possible to filter using the multi-select list.  You can only filter using the column header filter list, which is not the same thing and doesn't work the way it should (in my opinion).

Example: I have a list of 4 items that can be assigned to 4 categories.  The assignments are:

Item 1 = Cat-1
Item 2 = Cat-2
Item 3 = Cat-1, Cat-4
Item 4 = Cat-2, Cat-3, Cat-4

Problem 1:  The column header filter displays a separate entry for each unique entry.  So instead of showing a list of 4 categories to pick from, it displays each category AND each combination
