How do I find and merge duplicate records ?

Submitted by seanlu21 on 2018/11/16 04:58
Hi, one question, if I have some (or may be  I don't know how many records fall in this case) duplicate records,
( When I mean duplicate I specific mean 2 records have the same "item" value. but may have different value for other 'field's as I imported from different of sources may be. )
How do I find out and merge those duplicated records as one record only ?

Please also suggest any practical ways to deal with my case.

Many thanks.

When IE does a better job than Chrome...

Hi All,

I was working on improving the Doc pane HTML tags cleanup feature:
  • Edit > Cleanup HTML tags (much improved in the next version BTW)
And compared a document between the original and the cleaned up copy, one in IQ's Doc pane (IE) and the original in Chrome
(document used was this page: InfoQube Program Install and Set-up)

Visually, it was much more pleasant in IQ, mostly because of the default style sheet which formatted things better

But images were clearer too.

RTF

I am trying to figure out the Doc Pane. I have my default.css file set for a font of Consolas. And this works fine for posting text or HTML. But when I try to post as RTF the font change to Times New Roman. I am not sure why.

Confirmation Dialogue for Grid Security

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/11/12 00:17
Tonight, I selected four items then moved my cursor to the back color tool.  When I clicked on the new color, all four items disappeared from the grid.  I had no idea which items were removed (I was changing a color scheme and didn't care about the item contents).  I pulled up a backup file to find which ones were missing, and did a search which confirmed that their grid assignments had been unchecked.  I used the orphan finder to discover several more items that had been previously removed from the grid without my intent or knowledge.

I know there have been other cases discussed where items got unassigned to grids for reasons not always easy to understand.  It's definitely something I worry about.  The real worry is that in a grid with many items, things could go missing without realizing it.  I guess you could periodically check for orphans, but that's not going to help if the item is assigned to another grid.

Tags pane

(See 3. Tags for an overview of how the tagging system is implemented)

The Tags pane is where most of the interaction with Tags is typically done. There a 3 basic functions:
  1. Manage the list of Tags (add, edit, delete, rearrange)
  2. Assign Tags to items
  3. View items having a given Tag (or set of tags)
The Tags pane has a number of additional features:
  • Search, Sort and Filter Tags, useful as the number of Tags increases
  • Display options (flat list view, tree view, auto-sort, item count, archived tags)
  • Tag Inheritance

1.1 Adding / Editing / Deleting / Rearranging Tags

  • To create a new Tag, press the Insert key (or right-click > Add Tag)

Doc Pane Style Sheet

Submitted by jnmwarren on 2018/11/10 12:22
I have my Doc Pane set to pull the Default.css file as a style sheet. But today on one of my laptops I am getting this pop-up window.

And my default style sheet is not loading. No matter which opiton I choose in the above window.

Any suggestions on what is causing this window to pop up?

Typewriter Scrolling

Submitted by Paul_J_Miller on 2018/11/10 05:57
Whilst editing or reading text I often find myself working with the cursor on the very last line of the Document pane and I often find myself scrolling the window up just to get the cursor off the bottom line.

It would be more comfortable to have the cursor automatically stay in the middle of the screen and the window scroll to keep it there.

The way I see this feature working is a tick box somewhere in the options for 'Typewriter scrolling'.

If the box is checked then the cursor position would be fixed at two thirds or three quarters of the way down the document pane whilst typing if there were enough text to support that.  Obviously if there were just a couple of lines of text or if you were just starting to write then the cursor would be at the top of the page, but as soon as there is enough text the cursor stays in the same position, in that way your eyes become accustomed to

Unwanted column movement

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/11/09 13:13
When I click on the item column header to do a sort, it either:

1) Selects all the items in the column (what I want). or
2) Moves the next column over so it's now to the left of the item column (not what I want).

If I continue clicking on the header, it randomly selects all the items or continues moving more columns to the left.

Could someone explain what's going on?
