New users

IQ has really come so far that I am now demonstrating it to colleagues and others. I know the roadmap includes an improved UI especially for filters (please take a look at Ultra Recall, as I find its filtering system very comprehensive). To the person, the resistance to rtying or switching to IQ is related to these two issues:

1. Auto refresh. Many of the people use Ecco Pro, UR, or something similar. These products auto refresh. New users are not used to using F5 routinely, do not feel they should, and are confused if the view is not updated properly. I have been using IQ for some time now, and still get stuck in this trap.

2. No undo functionality. New users expect this basic function. Most other products have it and, when faced with an "oops" situation, people want to hit CTRL-Z to go back. Nobody I spoke with is happy with using a backup which may be several minutes old and takes them back too far.

<SOLVED> Removing colour from an item now requires a refresh

Submitted by Tom on 2010/08/10 06:14
I haven't yet experimented with the new option to just have colour show only in certain field(s)

But I notice it appears I'm unable to remove colour from an item via the context menu - but it's actually that it now requires a refresh.
I know this wasn't the case before but not sure when exactly it changed

reproducible in clean install with sample database

Clippping Dialog > Other Fields yielding phantom fields

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/08/09 14:11
User clips data from source 1 & checks off a field in "Other Field" drop down menu
Problem #1 > User clips data from source 2 & notes that in "Other Field" last field assignment is still there
Problem #2 > User scrolls to that field only to find that it is NOT checked off, i.e. not really assigned
Problem #3 > If user has made multiple assignments, all fields remain in dialog, one may be checked off, the others aren't

TaskID and NextTaskID

Submitted by Armando on 2010/08/07 19:06
I've been using the gantt for quite a while now, and the recent post about it gave me the incentive to discuss the taskID and NextTaskID fields and their usage.

Right now, a taskID is auto generated by the gantt when linking to tasks (drag & drop vertically in the gantt when items are already selected). These are simple numbers like 1, 2, 3, and more than one task can share the same ID.

Question : Is that "number sharing" on purpose ? And what are the advantages ?

Gantt display bug : black arrows used to determined dependencies between tasks disappear after a refresh.

Anybody else ?

1- click on an item task duration in the gantt (blue horizontal bar) and drag vertically : the linking chain will appear.
2- drop the chain on another item task duration in the gant.
3- an arrow linking both tasks should appear in the gantt.
4- refresh : arrow disappears.

possible display memory conflict

I have a lot of memory on my machine, both graphics & basic RAM
Put it this way; w the following programs open (2 in particular are heavy graphics)

IQ
FF
Adobe Lightroom
Adobe PhotoShop

I'm using +/- 45% of RAM

Every time I get up around this level, IQ display starts to act up even with only a few grids open.
I can't tell you that it does this or that every time as it changes.
