Mixing row and column equations

Submitted by william_wicker on 2010/10/25 11:28
I'm trying to set up a grid to work as an indented parts list / bill of materials. Here's a picture of where I'm at right now. Some things work fine. Others don't. Here's a picture:

I'm trying to figure out how to merge the row-level equation that sets Total Cost = Quantity Required * Cost Ea. with the column equation that sets Total Cost = sum (children)

Ideally, I would like to be able to enter a column equation for Cost Ea. that is the sum of the children's Total Cost columns. Then I can see the  cost for a single sub-assembly as well as the total cost for the number of sub-assemblies required. If I do this, then Total Cost is always = Quantity Required * Cost Ea., and the Cost Ea.

Shown in grids

Opening the folder pane in Ecco allows one to see what folders are associated with an item. You can, individually or en masse, delete these items from the selected folders. I know that IQ will get Ecco-like folders in .27, but I wonder how I can easily delete items form grids with this version. Shown in grids has never worked to my satisfaction and it seems to hit-or-miss. For example, I need to have all the grids showing (I think), but I am not sure in how many grids my item(s) appear and their names.

Can someone direct me to a reliable method to accomplish that which I can so easily do in Ecco? I'll bet I am missing something obvious.

Thanks.

Note that it's possible that some user will run into the infamous problem where no content appears in their CHM reader.

Hierarchy

I didn't use this for awhile and I don't usually use it very often, but...
I thought I understood that when the item doesn't belong to the grid ( and that means that in property pane the grid field won't be checked) it won't show when hierarchy is off. In my pre-rel27 it's not the case. More so, when I check the grid source field for that item it jumps up to the top level.

Some more info on the use of icons

The page that KeithB posted on setting up an icon for an item w HTML content -- link to nonexistent node ID 2033 -- was quite interesting.
I'm still left w a couple of questions:

(1) is there any particular place that icons have to be stored. See icons
(2) do they have to be of a particular format, i.e. gif, png, etc. Some icons are attached.
(3) has the export syntax for icons been fixed. See Icons in item don't export
(4) I don't understand the relationship between the names that are available w the list of icons that are already named here -- link to nonexistent node ID 738 --

File links / attachments

Hi there,

I have still some doubts regarding the file linking in IQ...Hopefully you can help...I will explain my doubts with an example:

In my case, I often work in small teams on different projects, which means we create a common directory in which we store all project-related files. As we are on-site at the client, we use a directory on a local "netbook server". Returning to our office, we put the files on our office server in a different archiving directory.

Using IQ, I would like to link the files stored on-site on the netbook directory. However, as those files are moved to the archive server and deleted on the netbook, IQ should modify the links to the new  file locations.. Is this technically possible?
