Export between IQBases

To export items from one IQBase to another, use one of the following 2 methods:
  1. Tab-delimited list of items and field-values
  2. XML format

1. Tab-delimited

To copy a flat list of items with limited number of field-values, a simple tab-delimited copy / paste can be done

The steps are:
  1. Setup a grid with the items and desired field-values as columns
  2. Select items and columns (or Edit > Select All)
  3. Edit > Copy: Selected grid rows and columns
  4. In the destination IQBase, setup an identical grid
  5. Create a blank item and select it
  6. Edit > Paste

Generate grid listing?

Submitted by KeithB on 2018/11/16 13:53
Is there currently a non-manual way to generate a grid containing the names and sources of all my grids?

(Low priority) please add to the future wish list the ability to  export all the content from both the manage grids and the manage fields dialogs to a scratch grid..

How do I find and merge duplicate records ?

Submitted by seanlu21 on 2018/11/16 04:58
Hi, one question, if I have some (or may be  I don't know how many records fall in this case) duplicate records,
( When I mean duplicate I specific mean 2 records have the same "item" value. but may have different value for other 'field's as I imported from different of sources may be. )
How do I find out and merge those duplicated records as one record only ?

Please also suggest any practical ways to deal with my case.

Many thanks.

When IE does a better job than Chrome...

Hi All,

I was working on improving the Doc pane HTML tags cleanup feature:
  • Edit > Cleanup HTML tags (much improved in the next version BTW)
And compared a document between the original and the cleaned up copy, one in IQ's Doc pane (IE) and the original in Chrome
(document used was this page: InfoQube Program Install and Set-up)

Visually, it was much more pleasant in IQ, mostly because of the default style sheet which formatted things better

But images were clearer too.

RTF

I am trying to figure out the Doc Pane. I have my default.css file set for a font of Consolas. And this works fine for posting text or HTML. But when I try to post as RTF the font change to Times New Roman. I am not sure why.

Confirmation Dialogue for Grid Security

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/11/12 00:17
Tonight, I selected four items then moved my cursor to the back color tool.  When I clicked on the new color, all four items disappeared from the grid.  I had no idea which items were removed (I was changing a color scheme and didn't care about the item contents).  I pulled up a backup file to find which ones were missing, and did a search which confirmed that their grid assignments had been unchecked.  I used the orphan finder to discover several more items that had been previously removed from the grid without my intent or knowledge.

I know there have been other cases discussed where items got unassigned to grids for reasons not always easy to understand.  It's definitely something I worry about.  The real worry is that in a grid with many items, things could go missing without realizing it.  I guess you could periodically check for orphans, but that's not going to help if the item is assigned to another grid.
