Tags pane

(See 3. Tags for an overview of how the tagging system is implemented)

The Tags pane is where most of the interaction with Tags is typically done. There a 3 basic functions:
  1. Manage the list of Tags (add, edit, delete, rearrange)
  2. Assign Tags to items
  3. View items having a given Tag (or set of tags)
The Tags pane has a number of additional features:
  • Search, Sort and Filter Tags, useful as the number of Tags increases
  • Display options (flat list view, tree view, auto-sort, item count, archived tags)
  • Tag Inheritance

1.1 Adding / Editing / Deleting / Rearranging Tags

  • To create a new Tag, press the Insert key (or right-click > Add Tag)

Doc Pane Style Sheet

Submitted by jnmwarren on 2018/11/10 12:22
I have my Doc Pane set to pull the Default.css file as a style sheet. But today on one of my laptops I am getting this pop-up window.

And my default style sheet is not loading. No matter which opiton I choose in the above window.

Any suggestions on what is causing this window to pop up?

Typewriter Scrolling

Submitted by Paul_J_Miller on 2018/11/10 05:57
Whilst editing or reading text I often find myself working with the cursor on the very last line of the Document pane and I often find myself scrolling the window up just to get the cursor off the bottom line.

It would be more comfortable to have the cursor automatically stay in the middle of the screen and the window scroll to keep it there.

The way I see this feature working is a tick box somewhere in the options for 'Typewriter scrolling'.

If the box is checked then the cursor position would be fixed at two thirds or three quarters of the way down the document pane whilst typing if there were enough text to support that.  Obviously if there were just a couple of lines of text or if you were just starting to write then the cursor would be at the top of the page, but as soon as there is enough text the cursor stays in the same position, in that way your eyes become accustomed to

Unwanted column movement

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/11/09 13:13
When I click on the item column header to do a sort, it either:

1) Selects all the items in the column (what I want). or
2) Moves the next column over so it's now to the left of the item column (not what I want).

If I continue clicking on the header, it randomly selects all the items or continues moving more columns to the left.

Could someone explain what's going on?

Tags Pane

After downloading and installing the newist verison of IQ I seem to not be able to find the Tags Pane. I can find and load the Tags Grid and I see the Tags in the Properties Pane. But I don't see the Tags Pane anywhere.

forum title capture snapshot 2018-11-08

Submitted by KeithB on 2018/11/08 22:41
Here's another project file to share.
I captured most of the current forums, which contains the title, replies, created, last reply.
The forumcapture.zip contains the excel I used, with a worksheet with some notes as to what I did.
I put tags of the subforum name tags in green, and a few keyword tags in aquamarine, to help differentiate.
So this so far lets you search all the forum posts by title, and any additional tags you create. The links work, so if you find something, it will take you to your browser with that topic.

I plan to use this as a starting search, and probably capture the relevant threads I'm interested in, to the doc pane.

Save as HTML problem

Submitted by Paul_J_Miller on 2018/11/08 16:47
Having saved a large document I was working on as a HTML document believing it to be a copy of the document in InfoQube I deleted it after doing some tests to see how it printed.

Going back to the document in InfoQube there is noting in the document pane except for the statement that the HTML file which I saved cannot be found.

So instead of saving a 'copy' of the document I was infact transferring the document to the local hard disk!

Looking in the recycle bin on Windows the file was not there.  I thought all deleted files were relocated to the recycle bin before being properly deleted, apparently not.

I have just lost a lot of work.

Printing Anomoly

Submitted by Paul_J_Miller on 2018/11/08 08:04
When one prints a document (the contents of the Document Pane) either to .PDF or onto paper from a document formatted with a .CSS file using a vertical linear gradient as it's background colour then the linear gradient is repeated for each page rather than being for the whole document.

This is not unattractive just unexpected.

I suspect it would not be easy to solve.

Export to Excel

Exporting content from InfoQube to Excel can be done in 3 different ways:

1. Export to Excel

  1. Open the grid which contains the information to export
  2. All shown grid columns will be exported. Show / hide columns to get the desired list
  3. File > Export > Microsoft Excel
  4. An GridName.XLS file will be created in the same folder as the IQBase
Note:
  • Only items that belong to the grid will be exported.
  • The items that belong are those that meet the grid source / filter
  • To view that list, turn off Grid Column Filters, Context Parents and select the Flat List view
