Field Properties problems

Submitted by Tom on 2016/09/30 13:48
Hi all,
havent used IQ much in a while, so apologies if I've missed anything relevant to this report !

In the field properties dialogue:

1) column for 'Shown [in current grid]' is no longer displayed

2) after clicking 'Save', newly created field is not visible in the list. If I create another new field, it shows bottom of the list (which fine)

3) newly created field (when shown in dialogue as per #2 above) cannot be dragged to grid -- Field Properties pane need to be closed and reopened to enable drag/drop

TIA, Tom

Hi IQ Users !

Coming in the next version (v0.9.84) :
  • New: Grid: Outline Styles are now applied to groups when Group By is ON. This makes the groups and grouping levels stand out.

  • New: PopUp editor now supports superscript and subscripts
  • New: Field properties: Can now specify the list of grids to apply the co

Some Web Clippings Causing Very Long Pauses When Loading Item?

Submitted by David_H on 2016/09/26 17:54
Today I clipped a web page and when ever I select the item in IQ, IQ hangs for about 2 minutes.  After it finishing hanging I can then navigate through other items at normal break neck speed, but the moment I go back to that item it hangs for 2 minutes, every time.  It's the only time I've ever experienced this.  I deleted the item and recaptured the web page and same thing.

Has anyone else experienced this with with any web clippings?

I'm on version 83.

Thanks

"Query Parents"

Submitted by ethanrox on 2016/09/23 13:06
There's been an idea I had for the past several weeks.

As I create hierarchies for little research projects I am constantly copying and pasting Items from the Inbox (and other Grids) to the relevant parents in the hierarchy. Would it be possible and/or feasible to have items that pull their children automatically via a query - e.g. WIKITag like "*something*" AND WebLink = -1. The query should refresh with grid refresh.

From a user perspective it would be good if it is implemented via system field that should store the query in the syntax of the grid source-bar filter.

Context-parent Color applying to parents of filtered (Ctrl+G) items

Submitted by ethanrox on 2016/09/23 11:50
Currently using the Ctrl+G filter is of somehow limited use to me since the resulting view does not visually distinguish between items that fulfill the criteria and others that don't.

It is good to have the parents of item displayed as to have context, however, your attention cannot immediately disregard anything but "last level items" as there may be items at all levels that meet the filter criteria.

A nice way to solve this would be to have a color painting the items that fulfill the criteria (or don't). Since a very similar IQ way already exists - Blue Color for Context Parents - it would be nice if this could be extended to this filtered view as well.

How to make an item's HTML Pane the default?

Submitted by DavidF on 2016/09/22 17:03
For some reason a <u></u> (underline) tag has crept into my HTML Pane. Not sure how this could have happened - anyway, more to the point I now can't get rid of it. I go into View HTML Code, remove the offending code, then do File > Save As Default. Go into another item, go to HTML pane, start typing, once again everything's underlined. Is the process I've just outlined the correct way to get rid of this? have I missed out something? This is driving me crazy.

Closing and reopening IQ doesn't help.

Clipping Suggestions

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/09/22 11:01
Hello all,

I've been using the clipper a lot lately and have a few suggestions for Pierre to consider.  As always, let me know if any of these things are already incorporated into InfoQube (I'm still using 9.78b).

My primary suggestion is to make it easier to edit a clip after it's been captured (eg add highlighting).  It takes too many steps to find the clip.

1) Make grid refresh automatic.  I know this has been discussed before.

2) Make sorting automatic when the grid is refreshed.  I have my grid sorted on "ItemCreated" so the last captured clip is at the top.  But when you refresh the grid, it does not implement the current sort.  You have to go in and manually sort again.  Couldn't refresh be set to implement the current sort?

There may be other ways to accomplish the above.  For example, maybe
