Paste under the selected item

Submitted by Armando on 2016/02/03 15:49
I think I've asked for that years ago and I work around the issue everyday.

It's possible to drop marked items under a selected item (which is logical), but it's not possible to paste under a selected item (unless one creates a bogus item under that item, select the bogus item to be able to paste items "as children" of the previously selected item, etc.).

Anyway, it would be great.

I'm just not sure how to implement that without creating a monster "paste dialog".

David's Requests

NOTE: THIS IS A 4-YEAR OLD POST. IGNORE ALL BUT MOST RECENT POST.

Since I see a few others have put there overall priority wish lists into this subforum, here are mine.

1. I'd like to see the currently unused Grid area on the properties pane allow the user to navigate grids, and to group them, in the identical way that fields can be grouped in the properties pane.  This has probably been my top wish since I gave IQ my first try 8 year ago.  Looks like we're getting close .

Map View Issues

Submitted by David_H on 2016/02/01 22:27
1. Pretty sure right clicking on an item used to give a map view option?  Now it does not, I'm on release 66.

2. No matter what I select the map view shows all parents, even when I specifically select a sub-item.  Didn't it used to allow you to see only the level from which you were selecting on down?  In fact, if I select a top level, and the next time select a lower level, it prompts me asking me if I am sure I only want to display the sublevel, but then displays the top level anyhow.

Thanks

Hi IQ Users,

In this release (v0.9.26PreRel68a) :
  • New: Better Unicode support
  • New: Universal clipper correctly handles non-latin characters (arabic, russian, greek, asian)
  • New: HTML Pane: Paste command: Previous paste format preference is saved. If the format is not in the clipboard, the Paste Special dialog is shown to select a format.
  • New: HTML Pane: File > Fix UTF-8 Encoding menu command.

Clipping Questions

Submitted by David_H on 2016/01/28 01:06
1. Do any of you use other tools to clean things up so you insert in IQ?  I just started playing with the Firefox clipper for the first time and I don't find it useful for me in its current state, it seems to just try to clip the entire page as opposed to an article contents.

2. There is an HTML button on the clipper tool.  It doesn't seem to do anything.  I assumed it was for opening an HTML pane so you can see the clipping before importing it?

3. The help documentation shows a check box that I assume is now gone.  I can't remember the exact name but it was something like "close clipping window when done".  That no longer exists?

How do I force file to open without restoring layout?

Submitted by Tom on 2016/01/27 05:15
I need this about once every two years and can neither remember nor find it.

Scenario:
IQ is set to open previous file -- with last layout -- on starting. (Without dialogue.)
Then one day it chokes on something and you're stuck there...

Anyone know what is the method to force IQ to display the dialogue or even to simply open the file without previous layout ?

EDIT// Pierre's Answer:

You can hold the shift key while opening IQ to prohibit opening the last file. You can also hold the shift key to prevent restoring the layout
