Web Capture Problems

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/01/19 19:57
I seem to be the king of problems no one else is having but I can rarely go more than a few hours before something new turns up.  This time it's web captures.  I captured the follow wiki entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Keogh

It didn't seem like an excessively big page to capture but as soon as I did, InfoQube started acting erratically.  First it went into gray out mode with an hour glass displayed and a "program not responding" message.  It did this over and over, at least 10 times in the next five minutes.  Any return to the item with the web capture would set it off again.  Sometimes if I moved to another item, it would display the web capture from the OTHER item (ie the HTML panes between the two items were reversed).

Re-started InfoQube and problem persisted.  I've mentioned before that I run into the "program not responding" problem pretty consistently

How to paste Excel in HTML pane?

Previous release notes said there is now a "paste special" option that allows you to paste the Excel format in the HTML pane.  I'm not seeing that as an option when I copy/paste a section of spreadsheet.  I do see a CSV option but when I use that, there's a substantial loss in formatting.  Has anyone else been using this?

Better way to change grid text highlighting?

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/01/18 16:10
I use highlighting a lot in my grid notes.  Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of changing my mind about color schemes and end up going back to change highlight colors.

The original highlighting procedure is simple and straightforward using the tool icon.  But how do you change the highlighting color in a simple way?  Right now I'm selecting the text and manually deleting the HTML code before applying the new highlighting.  This is decidedly slow and awkward.  I'm hoping there's a better way.

Reference file locations

I'm increasingly moving reference material into InfoQube, including a lot of file links.  I know Pierre added some fixes to insure that PDF's will display properly even when they're located on another drive, which is nice.  But now i'm wondering if I should be moving all my reference material to the same drive/folder as InfoQube for other reasons.

I believe file links have relative paths.  If I have my reference material in the same folder (drive?) as InfoQube, I can move everything together to another drive and everything will still work.  This isn't the case if I have reference material linked on other drives (unless I recreate the same drive number relationships from the new locations).

Is my understanding correct?  Are there any other caveats to consider in setting up links to reference files and embedded PDF's?

Hi IQ Users,

Version v0.9.26PreRel64a seems like the best so far. I guess we're looking into an official release of v0.9.26 real soon...

While users keep testing, a few more fixes are now available. In this release (v0.9.26PreRel65) :
  • New: Type equations in numeric cells (i.e. =23*12+34), supports +, -, *, /, (, ).

Grid hyperlink doesn't take me to item

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/01/14 11:25
When I set up a hyperlink to an item in another grid, it should take me directly to that item in the grid.  Instead, it opens the linked item in a scratch grid.  I don't want that.  I just want to go to the item.  I can't find an answer in the help file and can't find any setting that controls this.

As a side note, has anyone run into links not working using item ID's?  It's worked ok for me except in one case.  I enter the correct item ID in the hyperlink dialogue but it creates a dead link.  I've checked it 10 times.  Everything is correctly entered, it just won't create a link to that item.  Here's the ID:

KatMouse is a great little utility to maximize the use of the mouse wheel

With Windows 10, KatMouse is no longer useful as there is a built-in setting for this (Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them)

[quote] KatMouse web site:
The prime purpose of the KatMouse utility is to enhance the functionality of mice with a scroll wheel, offering 'universal' scrolling: moving the mouse wheel will scroll the window directly beneath the mouse cursor (not the one with the keyboard focus, which is default on Windows OSes). This is a major increase in the usefullness of the mouse wheel.
