[FIXED] Hoisting in 30

Submitted by Jon on 2014/08/01 17:14
Is anyone having trouble with hoisting? It has been a while since I used hoisting, but I know it worked for me several versions ago. When I try to hoist I get the same error message in every grid.

"Error reading data. Check the source, filter and sort criteria."

Everything seems fine but perhaps I have missed something.

Any Lotus Agenda users here ?

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2014/08/01 13:57
Hi IQ Users !

Years and years ago, I bought a book on Lotus Agenda. It was probably a couple years before my Ecco Pro years... I guess that says it all !

I looked at it a couple of times, but never "really" studied it, but it survived my many attempts to get rid of unused stuff.

I never owned a license of Agenda, but as it is now public domain (download link here), I installed it on an XP machine.

Apart from a antique DOS UI, and as with Ecco Pro and InfoQube, it is build on the following 3 principles :
  1. Information is stored in items
  2. Items can be assigned user-defined field values (categories in Agenda)
  3. Views show a sub-set of all items in the database. Users can customize / create views.

[Bug] Manually adding file link deletes cell text

Reproduced this in:
pre-rel 29a clean install of portable version
Win 7 x64

Add a link manually:
  1. right-click cell (item field here)
  2. click 'Hyperlink'
  3. current cell/field text shows in dialogue
  4. browse to, and select file
  5. click OK on hyperlink dialogue
  6. text in cell disappears completely and no link is created

HTML pane should remember your place

Submitted by WayneK on 2014/07/31 08:52
I've created a rather long list of notes in the HTML pane of an item, and I'm copy/pasting additional material at the end.  Each time I leave the item and return to it, the view is re-set to top of the list, and I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to add my next notes.

The HTML pane should remember your position and not return the view to the top every time you return.  This should be the default behavior for any situation like this.  For example, if you're reviewing a list of notes, it should keep the position where you left it so you can resume reading where you left off.

I thought maybe it was only doing this when I was viewing the HTML pane without doing anything inside it.  I could see how it would be difficult to keep track of the scrollbar position.  But it occurs even if I've activated the pane and am in the midst of typing something.  If I leave the item and return, the view positio

Need advice on images vs pdf's in HTML pane

As discussed on other threads, I've been pasting images into the HTML pane using FS Capture.  This is handy when taking notes where the source material has tables, graphs, etc.  It's nice to be able to immediately see the image inside InfoQube rather than creating a link that launches the graphic in another program.
I'm concerned about whether this approach is viable in the long run.  I'd appreciate any opinions on this.

1) Is pasting a lot of images into InfoQube going to cause problems?  Are my databases going too get big and load slowly or become unstable?

2) Would it be better to display pdf's in the HTML pane instead (Menu>File>Open)?  This isn't as convenient as copy/pasting images directly but it has a nice advantage in that I can mark up the pdf files using a pdf editor I like (PDF Revu).  I've tested this and it seems to work well in InfoQube, so far.  If I make change

Improve Copy / paste

If you copy text from an outside source and paste it in the HTML pane, it retains the formatting from the source.  This creates extra time-consuming work because you have delete unwanted spaces and change font styles and sizes.  I'm not that particular about fonts but it quickly makes your notes look like a disorganized mess if they're in a random assortment of font styles and sizes.

I have a suggestion which would help users avoid a lot of tedious re-formatting.  In OneNote, when you paste an item, you're given the following choices:

1) Keep source formatting
2) Merge formatting (ie change formatting to match the existing formatting where you're pasting the text)
3) Keep text only (removes any images in the copied material).

The first two would be big time-savers, I believe.  The third one would be nice, I guess, but not as important.

HTML Pane Zoom is buggy... Any users of this feature ?

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2014/07/29 14:15
Hi IQ Users,

The HTML Pane Zoom appears buggy for some OS and IE versions (IQ HTML Pane uses the IE editing engine)

Specifically, these 2 bugs have been found:
  1. Cursor for some fonts is not positioned correctly
  2. Image resizing is not possible (Win 7 and up)
Are these features really useful ? Can they be removed ?

[FIXED] in the advent of a crash/abrupt closing, IQ chooses to restore old layout instead of the one just saved

Submitted by Armando on 2014/07/29 14:04
 Steps:

1- Configure IQ so that it creates a backup every 5 min.
2- Create layout  (a)
3- After first backup (5min), change the  layout (b) and save it.
4- Before next backup, forcefully close IQ (using taskmanager) and reopen it

--> Layout "a" will be restored, not layout b, even if it was saved.

IMO IQ should determine latest save and restore the newest layout. (Otherwise it defeats the purpose of saving the layout manually to avoid exactly that situation... falling back on an older layout)
