Another Import Option

The current import options of InfoQube are EccoPro, Evernote, Heirarchical data and Non Heirarchical Data.  Very good, but if you don't use Evernote and have nerer used EccoPro you are down to Hierarchical and Non Hierarcical import.  Hierarchical is something like an outline from MS Word which is also OK.  Non Hierarchical is something like a .CSV file.

I think something simpler is also needed.

I have many little bits of information in text files on my disk.  I think there may be some other people who have disparate pieces of information scattered about in text files, .RTF files, HTML files, .EML files, etc..

I often loose track of where they are and end up in the situation of "I know I had that in a file somewhere but where did I put it?"

Obviously the best place for something l

How to best help potential users learn to drive

I saw this post on the outlinersoftware.com site.  What struck me was the "I just don't quite know how to drive it" quote.

" ... Infoqube:  This one has me very intrigued right now.  It’s perhaps more powerful than any of these and infinitely configurable, which I normally love.  Pierre is an amazing developer.  He’s my spirit animal if my IQ was 30 points higher, I was much more discipl

field properties dialog - parent field?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/05/19 15:14
In the field properties dialog, each field has an ID number (leftmost column).  On the right side of the field properties dialog, I remember seeing a box that contained the field ID number for the selected field's parent field ... i.e. the field that the selected field appears under in the All Fields section of the Properties Pane, when "Tree View" is selected.  I can't find that Parent Field box anymore.  I guess that box has been removed from the Field Properties dialog, so that the parent field can no longer be set from that dialog?

Edit Mode Selection Issues

Issue #1 - feature request

I'd like to have the option to have all single clicks select the cell, not enter "edit mode".  The only option I see is to set the option for what single click does:  Options>Grid>Start Edit on a single click on: [blank area][text].

So first, it would be nice to have the option to turn off "start edit on a single click" and have edit mode entered only when I double click on a cell.

Issue #2 - bug

The present system wouldn't be so bad if it worked correctly, but it appears to me that it doesn't.  I have the option set to "blank area".  So to select a cell, I should only have to make sure that I click on the part of the cell that contains text.  Even though I try to do that, dozens of times a day I enter edit mode when I don't want to.

scripting - can I do something besides set the value of a field?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/05/17 16:06
I was wondering whether it would be possible to set the main and additional parents of an item via auto-assignment.  For example, if the Item field contains a certain string, then assign a certain other item as a Parent of that item.

Then I noticed that Pierre had suggested (already implemented?) the following functions:

  • GetMainParentID(ItemID)
  • SetMainParentID(ItemID) = NewMainParentID
  • GetParentID(index)
  • SetParentID(index) = NewParentID -- 0 = Delete Parent
  • nbParents  -- already exists

That certainly seems to suggest that we could set parents for an item.

But, I am wondering about a basic question about scripting in IQ.  Is it possible to do things other than set t

Documentation still able to be edited by the community?

Is anyone besides Pierre able to edit the documentation? I did a forum search and find it was still encouraged in a 2017 forum posting.
However I see Pierre's the only one listed in "Doc Updates" for well over a year and maybe longer, since the commenting still seems to be available, but not the editing of pages.
I did get the edit tab at the top to appear a couple of times on section 21, but not on any other sections.
