Editing with MS Word

Submitted by jnmwarren on 2018/05/15 14:09
I was looking through forum posts and the documentation but I could not find any way the IQ allows the use of editing with MS Word. I was looking for a way to edit using MS Word for RTF text like you do with MHT. If there is no way to edit the documents. Then I would make that as a suggestion. It would really be great if you could use either OpenOffice Write or MS Word for editing.

Thanks,

item multiple parents info - how stored?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/05/12 22:34
Just curious.  How is the identification of an item's multiple parents stored in an IQ database?  (might be an awkward way to phrase the question)

I thought that IQ might store the IDItem numbers for each parent as a comma-separated list in the ItemParent field.  But in the Properties Pane > Item Info > Values section, the ItemParent field shows only the item text for the original parent item - even when the child item is selected under its "alternate" parent.  Of course this could just be how the ItemParent's content is displayed, and not reflect what is actually stored in the field.  Maybe it actually contains the IDtem numbers for all the child item's parents.

Another request for Undo

I know this is in the works but I just want to bump this because I think it's one of the most important features that could be added: a true undo that will put InfoQube back to a previous state.  This is something that can save a lot of troublesome work when something unanticipated happens.  Here's a current example.

1) I have a file set up to organize books.  It includes a "ToDo" grid containing dozens of items.

2) I went to the ToDo grid, and selected all items to sort them.  When I clicked on the "sort" tool, all the items disappeared from the grid.  Somehow, every item got unassigned from the grid and I still don't know how.  I found the items scattered through other grids and confirmed that the ToDo grid assignments had all been unchecked.

3) Re-creating the ToDo assignments is going to take a fair amount of time.  It would be oh

Focus moving in grid

Submitted by Armando on 2018/05/11 09:52
Hi,

- select items,
- move them and slide them under a parent (with alt+right arrow),
- the grid focus moves (slides/moves) lower, towards to the bottom of the grid.

I don't know if it happens all the time, but it happens quite a lot, when I'm moving items around.

It also happens when marked items are put under an item : grid focus moves vertically (the vertical bar moves).

Thanks!

"add marked items as children" focus bug

Submitted by Armando on 2018/05/11 09:48
Hi,

The problem is there since a few a versions:

- First mark some items
- Then select some other item with some subitems, and keep the hierarchy collapsed.
- click on the option "add marked items as children"
- the marked items are put under the item ("add marked items as children") but 1- they don't show (the new parent remains collapsed), 2- and the focus is moved under the parent, but invisible/hidden, unless one expands the hierarchy ore repeatedly click on down or up arrow to bring the focus to the parent item.

Thanks!

Numeric grid title causing problems

Submitted by KeithB on 2018/05/09 21:20
Are grids titled with numeric values allowed?
I made some grids with  numeric values, such as a grid called 25 (for part numbers starting with 25).
After creating the grid, all existing items showed, which didn't seem correct.
After a csv import, with -1 and destination field 25, it seems like it did import these values, but still showed everything in the new grid.
Unfortunately, almost every time, the  program would then freeze/hang, requiring either using the task manager to end the iq session, or (more often) requiring a hard boot.
Things seemed to work fine if tried it again and called the grid n25.
