Request - Remember HTML and Prop Pane Settings on Per Grid Basis

Submitted by David_H on 2018/03/20 15:46
When I view my grids it's often like this:

  • Grid 1 I always view with HTML pane off (lots of columns, very little HTML content).
  • Grid 2 I always view with HTML pane on (fewer columns, lots of HTML content)
  • Grid 3 I always view with HTML pane and Property pane on.
And so on. This requires endlessly pinning and unpinning HTML pane etc. as I switch from grid to grid. Any way to remember the settings on a per grid basis?

Thanks Pierre.

how to assign new Y/N field values to existing items based on other field values for those items

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/03/20 01:57
Suppose I want to create a new Y/N field, and then set this value to Y for all existing items that meet a certain filter (e.g. [URL] NOT NUL), or something more complex.  Now, assume that there are thousands of items that meet this filter.  What's the best way to accomplish this?  Could I do this by entering a row equation for the new Y/N field, then clicking the Recalculate button?

Large CSV Data Import problems

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/03/19 11:09
Has anybody else tried to import a very large number of items into IQ from a CSV file?  My attempts have never succeeded.

I think IQ would make a great bookmark manager, and I would also like to have my boomarks integrated into my other IQ data.  So I exported my data from Linkman to a TSV file.  (Linkman a great bookmark manager, but I've had lots of trouble getting exports to work properly.)  Used Excel to convert the TSV into a CSV file.  Had to do some trickery in Excel to get a CSV file with only three columns, and eliminate a bunch of empty columns.

So then I have a CSV with only three columns for each bookmark - title, url, and date.  Created a new IQ file, and created three new fields - BookmarkTitle (text), BookmarkURL (text, hyperlink), and BookmarkDate (date).  Then I tried to import the CSV file as non-hierarchical data.  I reached the point shown in the scre

How to exclude Unscheduled calendar events from the list view?

Submitted by MaciejWasyluk on 2018/03/09 01:44

Hi, guys.

I’m trying to exclude calendar events with status “unscheduled” from the list view. In other words, I want to see them on the calendar but not in the list view.

Normally, I would exclude it with a fields’ filter, like “show unchecked for the Unscheduled field”, but it seems there’s no filed I could match with Unscheduled status.

Any ideas how to make it work?

Thank you,
Maciej

Text Formatting Lost in Map View

Submitted by David_H on 2018/03/04 12:51
1. Format some text in a grid using the toolbar, for instance make it red.
2. Go go Map View. It's red.
3. Close the program. Next time you open it's still red in the grid, but no longer red in map view. Changing the font color in the grid back and forth again gets it to show up in map view, until it's lost again in map view later on.

I think the issue is with text formatted using WYSIWYG.

I also notice that if I turn on WYSIWYG and double click in a cell that had text formatted (not using WYSIWYG) that the formatting disappears. Is that normal behavior?

Remove Formatting from HTML Pane?

Submitted by David_H on 2018/03/01 20:13
When the HTML pane keeps adding formatting or doing funky things I don't want it to do, is there a way to "remove formatting"? For instance I'm trying to add some bullets but it keeps insisting on indenting everything when I do that. I believe Pierre have the solution for this once before but I cannot find it. I've tried deleting everything and repasting it as text but that seems to be of no help.

When this happens I always look through every menu hoping to find something obvious, but never do.

Thanks

Notifiations Pane only works with Ctrl key pressed

Submitted by Tom on 2018/02/28 05:42
I haven't used the Notifications Pane in a good while:

IIRC the Notifications Pane (with the 'Show mouse-over' setting) just worked i.e. showed content of whatever cell the mouse was over.
It no longer does this, but only shows relevant cell content when the Ctrl key is pressed.

(maybe this was an intentional change?)

Lost Menu Settings and Program Settings (I think)

Submitted by David_H on 2018/02/27 03:03
I need some clarification because this has happened to me before and I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if when it happens it's a bug. I use the portable version exclusively. If I am reading the instructions correctly here, all I should have to do is install the new version and then copy the Users folder from the old folder to the new folder (which is what I always do). Is that correct?

Usually it works, but I upgraded to version 9.108pre2 the other day and:
- Custom toolbar was gone (this has happened to me before)
- Things such as outline settings are gone. I don't even know where to find those it's been so long since I set them.

Using InfoQube without a keyboard

Information management systems, and InfoQube in particular, are keyboard-centric applications. That is one reason why IQ has a wide range of keyboard shortcuts, most of which are user customizable.

However, with the advent of touch-based operating systems, PCs are evolving and their form-factors are changing.
Convertible, detachable and 2-in-1 devices (such as the Microsoft Surface Pro) are more and more popular and sometimes used as tablets (i.e.
