Home Folder, like Ecco

Submitted by d bartlett on 2009/12/17 00:11
One ECCO feature I find myself missing is the "Home Folder" (uneditable), which when displayed as a column within any folder automatically identified the initial/originating Folder in which an Item was created.  Handy reference info for me.  I've not discovered a similar feature in InfoQube, does it exist ?  If not, any eventual plans for a similar "Home Grid" feature ?

Easiest way to jump directly to an Item within the grid, by Item# (IDItem)?

Submitted by JJSlote on 2009/12/16 17:29
I know we can filter the grid to a particular IDItem, but don't see an easy way to "GoTo" that item within the active grid, as if we pasted in an internal link like" <a 2442>2442</a>" and clicked on it.

Excel has the feature on Ctrl-G, with recent GoTo's available to select. The need comes up when I'm working on the data link in Excel, seeing an Item to update in IQ with IDItem as key. Suggestions?

Thanks

Quick Search problem

I thought I had mentioned this bug before but realized I have not.

1- ctrl-f to open the quick search dialog
2- type and select items in the quick search result grid. Click "Go" or press enter..

"Search" grid opens, displaying the selected items. fine.

Leave the grid open and start the same process again.

(1- ctrl-f to open the quick search dialog
2- type and select items in the quick search result grid. Click "Go" or press enter..)

The search grid's filter won't be updated.

OPML import

Submitted by Jon on 2009/12/16 07:46
OPML import does not seem to work for me. Since I cannot get structured text (tab-indented) to copy / paste directly into IQ as an outline, I thought I could use Brainstorm as an intermediate step. I copied my text iinto Brainstorm then exported to OPML. IQ does not recognize this as a valiid OPML file and therefore I cannot import from Brainstorm. Now as far as I know, Brainstorm's OPML structure folllows standards and I have no difficulty importing from Brainstorm into other applications. Finally, I cannot seem to import OPML into IQ from any other application either.

Am I doing something wrong?

Jon

P.S. I'm using Pre-release 6.

Calendar : ctrl-drag-drop and shift-drag-drop effects

Submitted by Armando on 2009/12/15 23:41

ctrl-drag-drop 's behavior (doesn't create new items) in calendar is coherent with ctrl-drag drop in grids... But is that the best option in the calendar ? Don't have an answer, I'm just asking. In Outlook, crl-drag-drop creates a new and independent event (a clone, basically, in the true sens of the term).

Also (and maybe more useful than the previous comment) : shift-drag-drop in Outlook allows the user to move several selected events at once. It would be good if that was implemented in IQ.

Ctrl Drag+Drop in Calendar + item deletion : problems

Submitted by Armando on 2009/12/15 23:38
1- I got a crash from drag drop an item in the calendar from the "all day" section to the calendar. couldn't reproduce it yet.
2- ctrl drag drop creates duplicates but... Deleting the "item" (last option in the deletion dialog) didn't delete all the other duplicates, only the one selected... I.E : Others  didn't disappear even if the item didn't exist anymore.
3- Only way to get rid of the duplicates : choose "Remove item from the  calendar".

I guess it's a bug ? Especially that events with no corresponding items displayed in this way havce no properties at all... They are like ghost items.

"Other Fields" from Add item, to item context menu.

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/12/15 23:17
I'd like to see the "Other Fields" from the Add Item dialogue available via the item context menu. It is great when creating new items, to assign them to grids, and would be especially useful to me to be able to reassign existing items (especially the overflowing inbox).

And it looks even more useful now that I discovered there is a "Filter For:" button there; I'd never noticed that til now.
