Filter by Forms?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2017/04/30 00:05
The forms section in the Properties Pane has buttons to apply values and clear values from selected items in the grid.

Could forms be used to filter items in the grid, i.e. type in values next to the fields listed in the grid, click a filter button, and the grid filter is now altered to match the values that were entered in the form?

Pasting text into a field does not fire associated auto-assignment

Submitted by gregory on 2017/04/26 06:29
I have a row equation:

AME:[Item]=[PaperTitle]

This works if I type text into PaperTitle - the value of PaperTitle is assigned to Item.

However, if I paste a value into PaperTitle using <ctrl> + V, the row equation is not fired and Item is not updated.

The workaround is specifically to edit the value pasted into PaperTitle.

Toolbar Queries

a couple of toolbar related queries / requests.

1) there is a "Zoom in" button, but no "Zoom out" one: I wanted to add it to the standard toolbar (for use in Surface) but couldn't find any.

2) in the HTML pane:
mostly I have the HTML pane fairly narrow -- too narrow for the whole toolbar to display:
I would like if the toolbars went into a second row as opposed to hiding remaining buttons in a drop-down.
=>
I rarely have the full IQ window so small that I have same problem with the standard etc toolbars -- but it might be a helpful option there as well (?)

[SORTED] Difference between 'Recalculate' and 'Touch' ?

Submitted by Tom on 2017/04/25 05:11
Wondering, when I right-click a field in the properties pane:
  • whats the difference between 'Recalculate' and 'Touch' ?

EDIT// => never mind, should have searched better first:

Touch:
When you have equations (either row or column), and you change a value, dependant cells are updated. When you use the "touch" funtion on a cell, it does the same thing, (except that you don't need to make any changes) : it updates dependant cells  Also see Re-Calculate.

Re-calculate:
The "converse" of touch... It recalculates a given cell, based on its dependants

Search confusion

Dont use search often:

1) I see that a search (Ctrl+F) for 'font' will show nothing:
  • even though the word exists at least once in my db
  • there are multiple examples of #font and fonts
Ctrl+F; type font, enter - focus goes to the grid.
=>
could this  be because 'font' is used within the IQ system in various places?
(Search seems to be working otherwise)

2) Using Auto-search in the grid (Ctrl+F3) seems to be hardly working:

As an example:
TLI with the word 'ready' in the text.
I select the adjoining item and type 'ready': focus springs to a TLI much further down that starts with 'Route'
=>
does Auto-search only work for first word in the field?
