Expand/Collapse in Doc Pane, Moving Hierarchical Content between Doc Pane and Grid

Submitted by jimspoon on 2025/03/30 14:26

I vaguely remembered that the Doc Pane had at least some "outlining" capabilities, so I searched and found this thread:

https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/comment/25741

From this thread, and from experimenting in the Doc Pane,

(1) clicking on a heading toggles between an expanded and a collapsed state (I think I had that working).  Also I can right-click a heading and then click Expand/Collapse.

grid of grids again ...

We've had a number of threads over the years expressing the desire for a grid of grids, to organize a large number of grids.  This is useful - https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/node/4693 - BUT it doesn't get updated when you add a grid (most common) or delete a grid (rare).  So, if you want to update your Grid of Grids to add the ones you've added since the last revision of the Grid of Grids, you have to figure ouf which Grids are the ones you already have in the Grid of Grids, and which ones are the new ones, so you can add them.

AI Chatbots (Copilot etc) - saving output to File or IQ

I am late to the AI Chatbot party but it could be a lot worse since ChatGPT only came out in 2022.  I've been using AI Chatbots a lot lately.  I started out with Copilot but lately I have been using Gemini more and mor.  Copilot seems to be focus on being very concise whereas Gemini gives a bit more detail in its first answer.  I've also tried ChatGPT, and there are quite a few others (Claude, Perplexity etc) that I have not even tried yet.

paste hierarchical (but not tab-indented) content to get corresponding outline hierarchy in grid

Often content I want to paste into a Grid from an outside source already has an outline structure of some kind, but it's not tab-indented.  And so when I paste it into an IQ grid, the hierarchy that was present in the outside source is not replicated as a parents/children outline in the Grid.   The content as pasted as items all at the same level.  So if I want to reproduce the hierarchy in a Grid outline, I have to go through all the items and indent each one to the appropriate level.

values for item listed multiple times in Properties Pane > Item Properties > Values

I'm really liking the Properties Pane filter and the selectable headings for better keyboard navigation.  But I'm seeing a bug in 127.0Pre12 which is easily seen in the following Properties Pane screenshot.  The set of fields and values for the current item is shown multiple times under Properties Pane > Item Properties > Values, instead of just once:

Suggestions for customize toolbars

Customize Toolbars > Commands

1) Categories list should be in alphabetical order.  Right now, you have to scroll up and down the list to find a category in what appears to be a randomly-ordered list.

2) "All Commands" should be at the top of the list (it will be if sorted alphabetically).  I don't see the logic in having it 2nd to last.

3) One category is named "[Empty"].  Is this a typo that needs correcting?

Seems like I brought this up a long time ago.  Maybe it's something out of Pierre's control.

Enable the "Show in a New Scratch Grid" toolbar button for Live-Search results

If I run a search under "Live-Search", and if I select one or more of the search results, then I:

a) can click the "Show Items in the Search Grid" button, such that those items appear in a Search grid.

b) can click the "Show in a New Scratch Grid" button (which I had added to a custom toolbar), but nothing happens. Can this latter scenario be enabled/supported?

Thanks.

Slow paste of new items within a Scratch grid if multiple Scratch grids open

Scenario:

I want to paste, say, 50 items as sub-items to a pre-existing item. I select an existing sub-item of the item and paste (pasting by selecting 1- Plain Text and then 2- Paste all lines into selected item(s). 49 new items will be created).

Result:

If I do the above in a regular Grid, fast.

If I do the above in a Scratch grid, where just one Scratch grid is open under IQ, fast.
