Load Column Set Feature Requests

Submitted by David_H on 2015/10/26 19:11
This is a great new feature, I'd like to suggest some features to make it even more useful:

1. Please allow the column set to load in the order that they are defined in the form.  For me they seem to load alphabetically instead of the order I have defined.  This negates a lot of the value of the feature for me because it makes the columns show up in a haphazard order, even though they may be defined in an order that gives them meaning.

2. If some of the columns in the column set are (already) visible, please allow the "load column set" to override the order (could be an option).  The goal here is the same as #1, to be able to load a set of columns quickly in the desired order.

3.

Inappropriate error message when opening a second instance of an IQbase

Submitted by gregory on 2015/10/26 06:33
It is sometimes beneficial to run two instances of InfoQube against the same IQBase. Probably, there are attendant dangers. When I do this, I tend to treat one window as read-only and make all changes in the second. As an example of when I find this helpful, the first window is displaying the modal dialogue "Field Properties" while the second window is where I actually make changes.

When opening a second instance, an error message is reported:

"
Upgrading the IQBase to the current format (3.90) failed. Current format
is 3. Close all instances of InfoQube, and perform a database repair. If
the issue remains, contact InfoQube Support.
"

Should perhaps this message be replaced with something more appropriate, saying that you are opening a second instance of the IQBase and warning you of any dreadful consequences that may occur?

EMailToIQ suggestions

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/10/25 00:03
It seems that EmailtoIQ puts the subject line text (minus hashtags) into the Item field, and the message body text into the ItemHTML field.  I like to put my notes into the Item field rather than the HTML pane.  It would be nice if there was an option to do this.  Perhaps the subject line could become an Item, and the message body be inserted as subitem(s).  Perhaps this could be accomplished by the use of codes inserted in the email message body.  For example like <subitem>email message body text</subitem>.   In this way EmailToIQ could be used not only to import an item but also and item and multiple subitems.

Also, while it seems that an item can be assigned to a field via hashtags placed in the subject line of the email - there is no way to specify values for fields.  It would be good to be able to specify values as well.  e.g.

Simple sort question

Can someone explain why the following list sorted on the "Seq" number has "LR.049" at the bottom when it should be 2nd from the top?  I've checked for extra spaces and verified that the "0" is a zero and not an "oh".  I'm fully prepared for it to be something dumb I'm missing.

properties pane, "all fields" section - add right-click option for new child field

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/10/21 23:44
I would like to be able to add a child field by right-clicking a parent field in the "all fields" section of the properties pane.

You could add an "Add child field" option to the right click menu.

When "Add child field" is selected, the Field Properties dialog box would come up, and the "Parent ID" field would already be filled in with the ID of the Parent field that I right clicked earlier.  Then I would just fill in the name of the new child field, choose appropriate options, etc.  Voila, new child field.

Would also be nice if the Field Properties dialog displayed the Parent Field Name alongside the Parent ID number.  Would certainly be more informative.

Also in the All Fields section I'd love to be able to arrange the fields in a hierarchy using the same keyboard shortcuts that we use to arrange items in a grid.

How Does Autosave Work?

Submitted by David_H on 2015/10/21 18:37
How does the autosave mechanism in IQ work?  is it saving every x seconds or minutes?  Does it constantly save text that is being typed into the HTML pane, or does it only save text in the HTML pane when you move to another item?

I am often worried that if IQ were to crash after I've typed in a lot of information that I'd lose data.  With normal programs I'm constantly manually hitting save which in theory usually stops the loss of data if the program crashes.  With IQ I don't know how the autosave mechanism works, so after I've typed a lot of info I often close and reopen, under the assumption that causes an autosave and also frees up the databse so Dropbox can sync it.

I'd like to stop closing and reopening, which may be unnecessary, so I'd like to better understand how autosave mechanism works.

Thanks

WikiTags (discussion/bugs/etc)

Seeing as WikiTags are being developed again, I thought I'd start a thread on the topic.
The manual page is here -- Wikitags

The drop-down list is great Pierre, and seems to work well
It shows tags correctly where I previously entered multiple tags manually:

(lol -- which is the odd one out there :-)

I'm wondering, what is the advantage of having the two different popups?
